cool. did Goodspeed it's season for next year already? I saw Big River, Funny Thing...Forum & Annie Get your Gun there. Quality shows and it's a nice drive
Exciting! Should be a good one. Any confirmation on this (or other Goodspeed shows)?
I said this last week on here somewhere but Donna McKechnie would make a killer Mame, even though she's a little long in the tooth now, I think she could pull it off.
I vote for Bebe Newirth, or Donna Murphy as Mame
Vanessa Williams if the other two aren't available.

Bebe and Donna are both Vera's. Can you really say you'd trust Bebe "Ice Queen" Neuwirth with a child?
How about Rachel York? I think she's more believable as an actual casting choice given that Goodspeed doesn't often get big names to headline their shows.
Donna is unquestionably a Mame. Anyone who saw her in ANYONE CAN WHISTLE can attest she would be sensational in the role. But probably unlikely she would be doing a stock production.

I think Rachel York will get it. She's a Goodspeed veteran. The only way they can get someone like Donna Murphy or Bebe Neuwirth is if they label it a pre-Broadway production.

Yes but i could see Donna coming on just to play the role, and if she's good in this and they can find a big name for vera just in case...

Has any show from Goodspeed ever transferred to Broadway??

Donna has a young daughter; I think its pretty unlikely she would do Goodspeed, but you never know.
Lots of shows have started at Goodspeed - mainly "Annie," "Man of La Mancha" and "Shenendoah" but I don't think any were direct transfers - and of course all these were a long time ago.

^yes michael, that's why she would do it she wants to take a break from broadway and summer stock is defnitly a break from broadway...
Someone previously mentioned (on the PAL JOEY thread, I believe) that Murphy doesn't go out of town unless the show has a guarantee that it's coming to New York. So, we can probably cross her off the list for this one.
I'd love to see Emily Skinner do it. I remember watching her in the Kennedy Center production several years ago and thinking, "Why is Mame playing Gooch?"
Kirstie Alley will play MAME!

I'd love to see Beth Leavel as Mame. She'd be a hoot!
I still think Hariett Harris , an excellent Vera opposite Christine Baranski in Washington, would be amazing as Mame.
