I thought Brandi Burkhardt would be with the show longer, but she may have other offers that are making her leave.

Ha I knew this would happen...they just did this in London too.

I'm assuming every so often (maybe 2 years?) they have a big block casting and then at the end of that they release everyone. Burkhardt probably signed a continuation of whoever she replaced! She was only scheduled to go on through the fall anyway...

Brandi Burkhardt took over the role from Allison Case who was already cast in "Hair." She played the part from September 24 to January 25 until she began rehearsals for "Hair."

I don't think the Broadway production has had this big of a cast change since October 2005 when John Dossett, Michele Pawk, Carey Anderson, Andy Kelso and Olga Merediz joined the cast.

so am I correct in assuming Brandi Burkhardt will be there until that date? and Carolee Carmello? I wanted to see the two of them still

Carolee leaves August 30.

Maybe they're all jumping ship with Carolee leaving.

As wickedfan said, Carmello leaves the 30th. Rumor has it Burkhardt was leaving in September, so I suppose she's leaving the 20th.
