Opening in theaters April 28th, I thought i'd open a thread for reviews and such.
Anybody going to see it this week?
The high-definition film of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Memphis will be presented April 28, 30 and May 3 at 7:30 PM and May 1 at 12:30 PM in cinemas nationwide. The film will also include behind-the-scenes footage from the performance.
Emmy Award-winning director Don Roy King and sound producer Matt Kaplowitz filmed the Jan. 18-21 performances of the musical for NCM Fathom and Broadway Worldwide. Memphis marks the first musical to be filmed live and released in U.S. cinemas while concurrently running on Broadway. It was filmed in front of a live audience, with its original cast, at the Shubert Theatre.

It has a weird schedule here in TO. This Thurs, then NEXT Wed & Thurs and then Sun.
Going tomorrow night, won tickets because my mom was the only person who wanted tickets to the suburban Philadelphia theater (of which we live 2 minutes from), whereas the other contestants wanted tickets for center city Philly. WHAT?!

I will be going tomorrow in Los Angeles.
I must add their online marketing is great. They're covered on most theater sites and are very active on all social networks. Thumbs up for the guys at Fathom Events.
I hope the combo of this, Earnest, and Company lead to more show filmings.
Hopefully MEMPHIS will see good box office numbers and we get more productions filmed by Broadway Worldwide.

Tuesday night in Framingham, MA
I'm going to see it this weekend in PA.
I think it's absolutely great, that a Broadway show has been preserved in such way and now people all over the world can see the show. I just wished that from a 2009/2010 season they whould've chosen A Little Night Music or La Cage aux Folles that as far as I know, to my great regret, were not even filmed for PBS.
I am hoping to get there this weekend. Does anyone know if it will be released on dvd?

Yup! DVD and Blu-Ray!
I think Broadway Worldwide is planning a DVD and a Blu-Ray. You can sign up at their site to get updates on their products: http://www.broadwayonline.com//html/circle.html
