Due to the logistics of the location and other outdoor elements, ALL of the Broadway musicals that perform on Herald Square at the parade lip-sync to a pre-recorded track. Its always been this way for the exact same reason.

Yup.

They're usually horribly lipsync'd, but this year I thought everyone did a really good job. Especially Lin Manuel.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Lin Manuel Miranda was great as was the rest of the cast. It's just too bad we didn't hear more of them. I really wish it was the full song with more interaction with the cast.

$96,000 would have been so much better. The cut-down version of the opening doesn't do it for me.

anyone remember the hilarity of wicked's performance a few years back? (Cheno completely forgot to mouth a line)

"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

"The URL contained a malformed video ID"
You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

Is it really that hard to type in "Wicked thanksgiving parade?" I looked at a video and watched Kristin through the whole thing and didn't notice her missing a line. What part was it?

There was no completely forgotten missed line. She is about a half a second late when she says "two best friends" at the end.

Your fupa is showing.

I was really impressed with the lipsyncing this year. Young Frankenstein last year was kind of weird.

A lot of the videos on Youtube have changed the ending and laid the recording over the two best friends part. It took me like three videos to find the correct one with Cheno starting late.

I remember many years ago when the cast of Chicago did "Both Reached for the Gun" when Marilu Henner took over for Anne Reinking. It became blatantly obvious that they were lip syncing when Roxie's "Are you kidding?" was Anne Reinking's voice and not anything that sounded remotely like Marilu.
