Due to the logistics of the location and other outdoor elements, ALL of the Broadway musicals that perform on Herald Square at the parade lip-sync to a pre-recorded track. Its always been this way for the exact same reason.

Yup.
They're usually horribly lipsync'd, but this year I thought everyone did a really good job. Especially Lin Manuel.

Posted: 11/27/08 at 11:42amLin Manuel Miranda was great as was the rest of the cast. It's just too bad we didn't hear more of them. I really wish it was the full song with more interaction with the cast.

Posted: 11/27/08 at 11:44am$96,000 would have been so much better. The cut-down version of the opening doesn't do it for me.

Posted: 11/27/08 at 2:32pmIs it really that hard to type in "Wicked thanksgiving parade?" I looked at a video and watched Kristin through the whole thing and didn't notice her missing a line. What part was it?
#19re: Macy's Bway Shows are lipsynced right?
Posted: 11/27/08 at 2:41pmYeah, what line?

There was no completely forgotten missed line. She is about a half a second late when she says "two best friends" at the end.

Posted: 11/27/08 at 2:56pmI was really impressed with the lipsyncing this year. Young Frankenstein last year was kind of weird.

Posted: 11/27/08 at 3:04pmA lot of the videos on Youtube have changed the ending and laid the recording over the two best friends part. It took me like three videos to find the correct one with Cheno starting late.

Posted: 11/27/08 at 4:46pmI remember many years ago when the cast of Chicago did "Both Reached for the Gun" when Marilu Henner took over for Anne Reinking. It became blatantly obvious that they were lip syncing when Roxie's "Are you kidding?" was Anne Reinking's voice and not anything that sounded remotely like Marilu.
