Posted: 4/1/13 at 4:10pmY'know, with all due seriousness, I bet she'd do it. Wouldnt surprise me to find out she's bought the rights and is planning on doing it in about ten or fifteen years.

I adore her, and I'm on the minority of those who actually liked her in Evita, I think she could do it, but it wouldn't be a stellar performance unless she goes through intensive vocal and acting training.

Posted: 4/1/13 at 4:25pmALW did say in an interview that Madonna was the right age to play Norma Desmond and that she would be right for the role. However, I think Madonna murdering one of ALW's scores already is quite enough. I've never heard such flat, lifeless, passionless, dull and boring renditions of his songs as Madonna sang in Evita. But Madge is a billionaire so what do I Know?

There are only two things keeping Madonna from being a good actress.
1. Her attitude
2. Her attitude

I haven't seen the latter two films, but I guess if the characters sing and the music contributes to the story, they should be included.

... and they both did their own singing, too, unlike Jamie and Marion.
I do think there is a difference in playing a musical performer in a movie (which is about the performance) and being in a musical movie (which is about the genre).
EDIT: If you're talking about musical films (not performances), then the last time someone won a "leading" award was Liza in Cabaret.
It's also possible to win an award in a musical for a non-musical performance (see the Tonys for Thomas Mitcchell, etc.)

I agree, I wouldn't call those movies, musicals.
I didn't know they were lip-synching... It always dissapoints me when I find out a performace is dubbed.

Just to be clear, Jamie and Marion were lip-syncing to the original recordings of Ray Charles and Edith Piaf, respectively.
Sissy Spacek and Reese Witherspoon, while also playing famous singers, did their own singing in the films.
