I think
'Nobody Needs to Know' and 'If I Didn't Believe In You" from Last 5 Years
"I can't believe no one has mentioned "Betrayed" from THE PRODUCERS. In fact, it originally contained a section which directly parodied "Rose's Turn", but that bastard Arthur Laurents would not give permission (even though Sondheim and the Jule Styne estate said it was OK). "
Not only was this the immediate and ideal choice for this query, but I've heard before of this removed section from one of my absolute favorite shows. Does anyone (possibly from Chicago) happen to know what it consisted of? It appears to be the only piece of information omitted from the "behind-the-scenes" coffee table book.

"This Nearly Was Mine" from South Pacific, when in the right hands, can be one of the most powerful songs in musical theatre.
Sweeney's "Johanna" is also a go-crazy kind of song.
WHAT HAVE I DONE and WHO AM I from LES MIZ
Billy Bigelow's SOLILOQUY. 'Nuff said.
Since all the ones I was going to mention are taken, I will nominate "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," especially at the end where the music surges and the crowd onstage and in the audience go crazy.

THat's not a male song though.
The Meditations from SHENANDOAH
"Not a Day Goes By" from MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG
Wig, you beat me to it. Impossible Dream is amazing. Also, seeing as I went to Beauty and the Beast yesterday and it's fresh in my mind..."If I Can't Love Her" is BEAUTIFUL!!! I had forgotten how good the new music (not from the movie) in that show is.
Oops! Jazzy, thanks for the clarification. It's late again and I have nothing to contribute.
