re: Your favorite flop?

Dec 21, 2006 — 2:06:05 AM

Dracula, Woman in White and Lennon. I've loved a lot of flops, but those are the ones I miss the most.

I only wrote to Howard McGillin but he repiled about a week and a half later with a very sweet note on phantom stationary and a signed photo. ^_^

re: Weird and/or Random Broadway References

Family Guy is always doing references to musicals like Shipoopi ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPt0n9--wNE ) Les Mis (http://youtube.com/watch?v=kb6ZhmIipr0) and Phantom (http://youtube.com/watch?v=za_jNkebn8Q). And though it's not exactly a reference to a musical, they had a bit with Carol Channing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_5-Jo9dGyg

Someone decided to "take the heat off Tarzan" by mentioning how bad Lestat was...why, if the show you love is so amazing, do you need to bash another show to make yourself feel better? Hmm?

I was there today right up front. Lots of tears on stage. It was so sad to see this show go. Yes, it needed work, but I do not think it was nearly as horrible as everyone made it out to be. The show had a lot of heart and it was very moving, especially this very last performance.

re: Disney Rant

May 28, 2006 — 12:29:05 AM

I don't like shows that are marketing toward a child or "family" audience. And although I see that happen with Beauty and the Beast for example, there wasn't too much of it in Aida. So it's actually difficult to generalize ALL Disney shows. I think that if they can put a show on Broadway but do it right, then no harm done. But I fear the day when shows on Broadway are just like those Disney-on-Ice shows I used to see when I was 5! And I feel a rant of my own coming on, sorry. But I could see ...

re: Sarah Brightman?

She has a unique voice and it's one of those either you love her or you hate her kind of things. Personally, I love her, but I can see why she'd get on some people's nerves. It's just a matter of taste. As for her playing Marian Halcombe...I don't really think she could. That role demands a lot more acting than I think she could put in, but I love Sarah all the same
