Lots Wife & Rose's Turn.
What songs allow a male performer to release the emotion and the notes to raise the hairs of an audience?

Siloquoy (spelling?) from Carousel, maybe?
Interestingly enough, the one that does it for me is "All of My Life" from "Do, Re, Mi"
(gee, NOW I know why I chose that logname).
"What Kind Of Fool Am I?" from Stop The World, I Want To Get Off
"Who Can I Turn To?" From Roar of the Greasepain, The Smell of the Crowd
Those are really the only two I can think of.
"Make Them Hear You" from Ragtime
"Is Anybody There" from 1776
"Bring Him Home" from Les Mis
"Pity the Child" from Chess
"Marry Me a Little" from Company
Broadway Star Joined: 7/13/04
Mellisande from 110 In The Shade
The numbers that stood out from the ones I've seen:
1. The Confrontation (Chris' Part), Miss Saigon
2. Stars, Les Miserables
3. Back In Town (Thuy's Part), Miss Saigon
4. Where Is Love?, Oliver!
5. If I Loved You (Reprise), Carousel
6. I Don't Care Much, Cabaret
"I Am What I Am" -- LA CAGE
is the only one i can think of off the top of my head
Epiphany came to mind as soon as I read the first post.

I immediately though of Make Them Hear You from Ragtime.

confrontation from jekyll and hyde to me fits this category.
Gethsemane- Jesus Christ Superstar
I'd say "I Am What I Am", definitely.
And "Anthem" from "Chess" and "In My Own Lifetime" from Bock and Harnick's "The Rothchilds"
"Being Alive" from "Company"
"Make Them Hear You"? Really?
Sure it's a good song, but when I think "Rose's Turn" and "Lot's Wife" I think mental breakdown.
Therefore, the only ones that I think are on a similar playing field are "Epiphany" from Sweeney Todd, "Soliloquy" from Carousel, "Confrontation" from Jekyll and Hyde, and "Betrayed" from The Producers.
BRING HIM HOME from LES MIZ
I AM WHAT I AM from LA CAGE
PITY THE CHILD from CHESS
AMERICAN DREAM from MISS SAIGON
Not to threadjack, but what song could be equivalent to "Meadowlark" from the Baker's Wife? It's great in the way that it tells a story and soars beautifully when it comes to the melody.
Any thoughts?

Oh, and if you're a 16 year-old skinny white kid (full disclosure: I'm a 19 year-old skinny white guy), PLEASE do sing "Make Them Hear You" from Ragtime. You demean the very message of it when it's overdone like that.
Definately "Gethsemane" from Jesus Christ Superstar, because it start out really big and then mellows out. Emotional all the way through.

As trite and tired as they might be for audition songs...
"Lost in the Wilderness" - Children of Eden
"What is it About Her?" - The Wild Party (Lippa)

Epiphany as performed by Len Cariou
Epiphany (Sweeney Todd)
I Am What I Am (La Cage aux Folles)

I can't believe no one has mentioned "Betrayed" from THE PRODUCERS. In fact, it originally contained a section which directly parodied "Rose's Turn", but that bastard Arthur Laurents would not give permission (even though Sondheim and the Jule Styne estate said it was OK).
And yes, "All Of My Life" from DO-RE-MI, written by Jule Styne, has often been nicknamed "Hubie's Turn".
I think we also have to add "You Gotta Die Sometime" from Falsettos
