Mandy Moore in Wicked

My sister said she heard Mandy Moore is being considered for the role of Glinda in Wicked. PLEASE tell me this is not true!

re: Mandy Moore in Wicked

I really don't think so. That role is pretty vocally demanding and from what I've heard, Mandy's a good singer, but her range isn't up to the caliber to do that role.

On the other hand, in terms of stunt casting, NOTHING surprises me anymore. :)

Someone better slap some sense into the producers.

stunt casting

Unfortunately, people like Mandy will continue to be considered, and in many cases hired until audiences stop wanting to see them. Producers have taken a 'play to the lowest common denominator' approach to their jobs. Which only hurts us all the in long run.

BRAVA...

Mandy Moore's CD "Coverage" was one gutsy freakin album which she all but dared the record company to release and it was applauded by many critics..and she gained the respect of many people in the industry!

Her appearance in the upcoming film "Saved" is being hailed in press screenings..and was a smash at Sundance!

For Miss. Moore to come to Broadway right now would be nothing short of slumming so I applaud her for doing so...

Don't get me wrong, I love Mandy Moore. But stunt casting pisses me off.

Especially in a role like Glinda.

Of course, there is absolutely no proof whatsoever of Mandy coming to Wicked yet besides what someone heard from a friend. So let's wait until there's something official on it before we get the torches and pitch forks out.

Yeah, so could Britney Spears. Lets bring her in for Glinda.

I really couldn't picture her as Glinda. Nessarose maybe but not Glinda. Nessarose isn't really a big enough role to advertize her in though.

Just a question, were people kidding about Megan Mullaly? Because I seriously think she'd be great in the role. She has the comedic timing, most likely the range (is she can play Rosemary, she can probably play Galinda), and she has the HEIGHT!

I love Megan Mullaly, but as Galinda I may have trouble,I'd keep expecting her to order another martini.

Mandy Moore has a sweet sounding voice, and I could see her in some musical theater roles(Like Nessarose), but she could never in her life pull of Glinda. She actually participated in a Broadway concert aired on Bravo singing "Adelaide's Lament" and "Suddenyl Seymour" with Adam Pascal, and she was fine. She could do great in simple roles, but she could never handle a role of Glinda's magnitude, that's for damn sure.
