Ok, maybe this has been said before (or, done - i dunno) but just based on Hairspray, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, South Park, etc. I think the two could make an unbeatable musical based on a movie.
What do you all think? What movies do you think they could do - based on movies that they've made into musicals already?

F' that! They are both wildly talented and can surely come up with something totally original.
Ditto that to the Nth power!
Oops, I ment to ask that too - like what ideas of shows?
They also turn movies to the stage so well.
Just thoughts of musicals they could do and such.
Come on people!
Get creative!
I want to see South Park on stage. They could create an ice path around the theater (ala Starlight) for Boitano to do his "two Salchows and a triple Lutz, while wearing a blindfold!"
I think a music version of Ruthless People would be great! It would have to be very different than the movie, but I love the story.
Thanks, Loge.
By the way, did you get my PM - it hasn't been working right lately.
...
Yes I did.
Marc?
I don't get it.
Yazbek and Shaiman (who are both wonderful) are both COMPOSERS. Unless they split a score in half and both composed half of it (which would most likely end up disjointed), the only other way for them to collaborate is for one to compose the music and the other to write the lyrics. Which are you proposing to do which?
Why can't they compose and write together?

Um...it's not that easy for composers who write songs on their own to just start collaberating all of a sudden.
Well w/e. One can write lyrics and one the music.
I'm just saying what movies/ideas would be good shows?
Historically, that's never happened. And for a reason -- it's impossible to collaborate that way. As a composer, you can't make a collaborator hear your musical ideas in real time in a way that allows them to effectively contribute to the collaboration. Lyrics are a different story altogether, and it is possible to successfully collaborate in that regard. Not so when it comes to the mechanics of composing music. It would be so frustrating that they would kill each other before the opening number was written.
It's hypothetical.
Dumb ass!

What the hell is up with you, jmaclover? Quit tossing around insults just because someone disagreese with you.
Who's disagreeing?
My question was simple...what movies would be good to turn to stage?

Oh, then I must have been misreading the part where you called VeuveCliquot a dumbass. My mistake.
That's me calling him/her a dumb ass - NOT disagreeing!

Insist on being difficult? But that's not the same as disagreeing with you, huh?
Well, I have to say this thread really casts you in an endearing light, jmaclover. Nice talking to you.
Anytime...ladada
