Marc Shaiman to compose Ugly Betty Musical episode!

http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2007-08-15-hsm-premiere_N.htm

Ugly Betty's Mark Indelicato (Justin) attended with his TV grandpa, Tony Plana, both of whom have seen the original Musical (Plana has a teen daughter). Asked which character he most identifies with, Indelicato said Hudgens' Gabriella, "because she's an outsider. Except I'm a guy."

Plana and Indelicato are getting excited to shoot Betty's upcoming musical episode, to be composed by Hairspray composer Marc Shaiman. "They're trying to make it organic to Betty's development — when she's troubled about something," explained Plana.

Did we know this???

Omg its like a dream!

Are David Hyde Pierce, Chenoweth, and LuPone all to be in the same episode... this one?

I doubt it, but I'm wondering. Hopefully they'll do it with one of them on the show.

That's pretty fantastic though.

Haha, Anakela, that was amazing! And it seriously was the best episode ever!

This show is constantly bringing Broadway into mainstream television and it's so great! Have these actors done any previous work that required singing? Just curious...

Once in a lifetime a dream does come true! If Patti is in this episode I can die immediately after seeing it and will have lived a complete and full life.

Wow, not only do the people at Ugly Betty have a great taste in guest stars, but composers, too. Oh my God, I am so excited for this episode [Hell, just for the season to start!].
One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...
