I just have a couple questions about her, I was just at her concert in verona and I overheard some things about her coming back to broadway? One, She was going to come back in show but her timing and schedule were not working out right now, so they were bringing a lady in from london to play the part? Does anyone know what show? and would she even be good hahah? and the second thing I heard was she may be creating a part on broadway that Bette Midler played in the movie version?
I mean Im all about Marie returning broadway (she sang a wonderful climb every mountain very legit singing voice) but two starring roles hahaha wow...is she that good...Im in know way trying to be mean!
If you can help in telling me whicn shows that would great

I've seen Marie in the Nat'l Tour of THE SOUND OF MUSIC (with that Laura Bell Bundy chick and that Richard H. Blake kid) years ago as well as her run in the recent Broadway revival of THE KING & I. She was quite good in both and definitely has this amazing stage presence about her that works immensley. Vocally she hits every mark and her charisma works for the stage and can even be felt in the last row of the upper balcony. She definiltey knows and understands the difference between TV acting and stage acting and makes them work for her. I think she would have been a great replacement in the recent ANNIE GET YOUR GUN Broadway revival -- even a great follow-up after Reba McEntire left.

Marie would be so fun as Drowsy but is it moving or closing? I doubt it would be that show. She'd have to claw that role out of Beth's hands. Unless Beth wants to give herself a break for awhile. They both have families to take care of too. I think Marie is talented enough and if she can handle the schedule than she should do fine.
I'd wonder though if she would need a really great understudy to carry a show, week-by-week? Broadway is pretty demanding.

I saw Marie in "The KIng and I" and even though I've always liked her, she really blew me away. Given her country and pop stuff, to hear such a powerful voice come out of her really caught me off guard.
I hope soemthing pans out for her--she can definitely handle it.

Maybe Chicago? It's a "Dancing with the Stars" alumni reunion party.
Hopefully she won't pass out though. "Oh God."

Marie in chicago??? Umm Scary hehe ...but I do have to say that she would rock in We both reached for the gun!!
Do you think she would be a good replacement for Spamalot?

Posted: 11/5/07 at 11:07amActually, Marie would be a DELICIOUS Velma VonTussle and it would so go against type that it would thrill me to no end. I think she'd have a heck of time playing mean.

Holy crap! I never thought about Velma in HAIRSPRAY! Now THAT would be genius casting. She would know how and what to do to that role, as well as making those Velma songs 'new'.

Exactly.
Maybe now that she's 48, she can throw aside some of the old "moral" stuff that kept her from taking roles in the 70's. It would be great to see her break image, but I still think she might have issues with the character's overall hatefulness.
If someone could make it happen, I'd be there in a shot.

I saw Marie in the Sound of Music with Laurence Guittard when it played the Pantages in L.A.
I was fairly ready for a train wreck, but to my surprise, she was terrific. She could definitely carry another show on Broadway, and it would be nice to see her originate a role.
Girl's got some stage presence! Not to mention that everyone in the grand ol' USA knows who she is.
