Not happy that they didn't include Arbender Robinson in this revolving door.

^ Yeah, it's weird. I just checked to make sure Arbender was still with the company because I was confused.
Does Arbender Robinson also cover Enjolras? (I ask because Kyle is out until November 30 and they might have wanted to keep Robinson free to take that role if need be.)
Nope: http://www.playbillvault.com/Person/Detail/103655/Arbender-J-Robinson
Bummer that Arbender wasn't added to the list. I hear he was wonderful as Marius the few times he went on.
I wonder if he's still a Marius understudy.

I heard that Arbender made a terrific Marius as well. Les Miz dropped the ball with this one.
I saw him, and completely agree that they dropped the ball there. He was terriffic.
I've seen them both regionally. Both qualify as good, far beyond serviceable. But in this case, as with many castings of Marius, feels like they're just doing "handsome acting." They're pretty--they'll be fine! That mindset. I'm a big fan of Arbender Robinson. I saw him in one of his few appearances as Marius and he was outstanding. He kept your attention.
I think he'd be a nice Enjorlas. He gets the emotion right without over-acting.

It was Cameron Macintosh's decision.

Your comment makes it seem as though all the creatives got together for this decision. Cameron Macintosh PERSONALLY does not want Robinson in the role.
On the other hand, he's on today! https://twitter.com/understudies/status/524964077941301250

Yay! I hope somebody on the board gets to see him. And Fosse, not saying you're wrong, but I wonder why Macintosh would cast him as the Marius cover but then not want him to cover Marius for more than a show or two.
It wouldn't surprise me. That's the way he operates.
One thought I keep having is that he covers more than one track and it takes more time to get someone acquainted with more than one track like that than to just get a principal or two (especially if they've played the part previously). Plus, they're still going to need the understudy in case one of these two misses. (I think one is going on for part of the time Mientus is gone and then the other follows.)
He only covers Marius, though.

The only reason Rosell is getting any performances at all is because Chris McCarrell is leaving on November 4th to do Peter Pan. He'll be out until December. It's definitely unfortunate Robinson was left out of the mix, but it'll be nice to have a Marius who is capable of singing and acting at the same time.
