Mark Ballas from Dancing With the Stars is stepping into Jersey Boys per ET. Is he playing Frankie Valli? Anyone know when he's making his debut?
At the prime height of 5'6", I think it's safe to assume he'll be playing Frankie Valli.

Dominic Scaglione is leaving sometime this month, which fits the Frankie theory (along with the height thing).
can he sing the part?
Gaudio (and Valli) approve all the Frankies casting, right? (Not sarcastic, just wasn't sure if after 10 years they were still doing this.)

That's a good question. That was such a big deal when the show and 1st National Tour opened.

Mark can sing, he's in a band and touring this year. Now whether he can sing Jersey Boys/musical theater we'll have to wait and see (if this is the rumor!)
Seems like more than a rumor, according to the ET link above:
"Dancing With the Stars fans are pretty bummed that dancer Mark Ballas won't be appearing on season 23, but ET has learned that Ballas has clinched an exciting new gig!
A source tells ET that the 30-year-old dancer is actually moving to New York City this month where he'll be living for a year, so that he can appear in a main role on Broadway's hit show Jersey Boys. The musical tells the behind-the-scenes story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, the band responsible for such classics as "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Walk Like a Man."
Ballas hinted at his new career opportunity in a heartfelt, handwritten letter to his DWTS fans, which he posted on Twitter on Wednesday."
So the question is, will he be Frankie? Guess we'll find out soon! :)

I am a huge Jersey Boy and Mark Ballas fan. When I heard this new I was a little surprised. Thinking about all of the other shows on Broadway I personally thought he would be an attribute to a different show. Perhaps one where the show is revolved around dancing. I'm not saying this should happen, but maybe a show like "Singing in the Rain" (when it does come to Broadway) would be a better show to showcase his talents (dancing!). And there are new showing coming to Broadway in the upcoming months! Like I said I thought it was odd but I was excited. I know for a fact he will be the new Frankie. I would assume Frankie Valli and Bob Guadio have a part in casting themselves but that I am not 100% sure. Can Mark live up to the part? I'm guessing like any other person he auditioned for the role. Right? Thinking from a business stand point, would you cast someone that can't live up to the part? Jersey Boys is a fabulous show that tells a story of a fantastic group of singers. Why put that a jeopardy by casting a celebrity? With that being said I hope Mark lives up to the expectations and kills the role!

Curious to see if he moves the box office needle...
While I personally like Ballas, I don't know if he's going to sell tickets...
It can't hurt, and they could use the help.

Agree with you on both, Lizzie...
I'm afraid if he doesn't sell well the show will close.![]()
