Thoughts?
IMHO:
Szot is very good. But Kudisch would add a unmatched raw sexiness and charisma. And the voice aint bad neither!

Eh.....
I don't think so.

Posted: 5/12/08 at 3:09pmSorry to say it, but Kudisch is a hack compared to Szot. And he's obvious casting- a forty-ish Broadway baritone. Who (outside of the opera world) had ever heard of Paul Szot before this? And who would have known that he'd be so remarkable?

I agree with this. Maybe we could get him to give us a private concert. We'd just randomly throw out songs we'd love to hear him sing.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

You know...I think we've got one dandy of a charity event here. We could sell tickets and proceeds go to BC/EFA. For a whole evening Marc has to sing whatever the audience wants him to.

Posted: 5/12/08 at 11:21pmJust some more Marc love, he did an awe inspiring rendition, guitar in hand, of the title song from Man of La Mancha tonight at Town Hall. He also did an amazing reading of the introduction that comes before the song. BRAVO!!

Marc's too Jewish to play Emile deBecque.
He could sing it, but it would have a different quality than Szot or Pinza's rendition. It would be a different take because of the sound of Marc's voice.

Posted: 5/12/08 at 11:40pmTo piggy back here, Marc is a very talented guy, but he's just not right for the role. He's handsome, but not in the "European" way the role demands, and his voice is too "Broadway." It really should be done by someone with a more classical-sounding voice.
