Posted: 6/25/09 at 6:06pmThere's plenty of leg room in the orch. I'm 5'10" and could stretch out.

I do not think that there is a bad seat in the whole theater.
I am also 5'10 and my friend who is 6'3 has never complained about his leg room.
Also what I like about the theater is that it is inside the hotel which allows you to be comfortable regardless of the weather or the size of the crowd.

Posted: 6/25/09 at 6:57pmThank you for your replies! I hope the leg room will be okay. I am 6'3 and have been uncomfortable in the past at the Nederlander and Richard Rodgers for example. This is why I try and get the closest seats as possible and preferably aisle. How would the seating compare to the Nederlander and Richard Rodgers in comparison to the leg room? I don't think my seats are aisle either...

Posted: 6/25/09 at 7:51pmI have stayed at the Marquis twice and loved it. Very glamorous and the elevators came out of a Tim Burton movie lol. Don't eat there besides the Starbucks. Pancakes were $28.50 inside the restaurant. Nice rooms... spacious and clean.

Posted: 6/25/09 at 8:20pmI've only ever been to the Nederlander and the seats at the Marquis are a lot better than those. The most comfy seats IMO are at the Gershwin...LOL.

Well, BlackCabbi as I said my friend is 6'3 and he never sits on the aisle and he has never complained about the leg room and we have sat in both the orchestra and the mezzanine.

Posted: 6/25/09 at 9:02pmThe Marquis has some of the most comfortable seats... though I think I would give that award to the Al Hirschfeld.

Thank you all for your help - both for the hotel and seats. I am relieved now. The Nederlander seats were TERRIBLE. And I am glad to hear about Al Hirschfeld too... I am also seeing HAIR but in the front row so I wasn't too worried. While I am at it... I am seeing ROA too... I believe I am center row E - how is leg room there?
And $30 pancakes?!?! I'll definitely be skipping that.
Thanks so much yall!

Posted: 6/29/09 at 5:14pmSimilar issue--I need to choose between Orch H dead center and Mezz B dead center. Both seem like they'd be really good--arguments pro/con?

bard,
Go for the Orch seats. I was in row G and it was perfect. I'm all about facial expressions and I could see clearly from that row without my glasses.

Posted: 8/6/09 at 9:42pmSo as to not start a new thread, could someone tell me if orchestra row C seats 8-10 or row C seats 9-11 are good seats? Are they obstructed seating in any way? Ticketmaster is giving me these and mezzanine row A seats 15-16 as options in my search. Thank you so much in advance.

Posted: 8/6/09 at 9:53pm^ I sat row E seat 9, and the view was amazing. I'm not sure if two rows ahead would be much different.

I had a awesome "Mini Vacation" (As I like to call it) with my friend in the hotel.
We saw Hair at two, and Wicked at 8 and then stayed up all night singing showtunes thanks to the rooms ihome.
As far as the room went it was a very nice spacious room with alot of ammenities.
I DO NOT recommend "The View" Restaraunt. As nice as it is the prices are big and the portions are extremly small..We left still hungry and unsatisfied realizing we payed 150+ just for a view.
Also at night the Elavators can take EXTREMLY long to come, we waited over 10 minutes for one. it felt like only 2 were running.
The hotel is nice but you can deffinetly get a equally nice hotel for much less

Posted: 8/6/09 at 11:12pmI'm not sure C10/11 would have a complete view of the entire stage. I think you would be sitting beyond the proscenium arch, and sitting that close might mean that the angle would be such that you'd be missing parts of the stage. I'm not sure you'd see all of the back wall screen. I think that the important action happens front and center, so I don't know that you'd miss anything important, but I'm not sure it would be a complete view of the whole stage.

Posted: 8/7/09 at 1:32pmThanks for the the replies. I've never seen a show at the Marquis before, but I did sit in Row B Seat 12 at the St. James and I only lost some of the back corner of stage left. Would the two stages be comparable in terms of depth? I'm trying to decided whether or not it's worth it to go for the orchestra or to sit front row mezz. Anyone have opinions on which would be better for 9 to 5? Again, thank you in advance.
