He's good, but nothing I haven't heard before. Kind of screamy to be honest.
Nothing you haven't heard before?
I've NEVER heard anyone like Marty Thomas. Yes, he sounds similar to many pop/r&b/gospel singers, but he has so much more power, range, and control of his voice it's astounding. His control of his flsettos is amazing. I wouldn't just dismiss him from some clips of his stuff on a website. Get the whole CD before you judge. Did I mention that CD was recorded live in one take?

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come off like that. My voice teacher works with a lot of great singers, and I've just heard a couple that sound like that. I shouldn't have just dismissed it.
monday night he was so amazing! such a sweet man too. Ah i love him, even if his sister almost broke my camera haha
How short is he? All the pictures I've seen of him, he's always been the shortest person there.

Okay I take it all back. I just heard Marty singing "Defying Gravity" and the boy can SANG! That was amazing.
Joshua, I KNEW I recognized Marty from somewhere. I had no idea that it was him who beat out Britney on Star Search.
I have to be honest. Some parts gave me chills. Others were, like Elvis initially said, somewhat "screamy." Overall, more chills than spills. I think, a job well-done.
wow i can't hit remotley those notes in the original key.....i sing much lower....
lol
The clips on the link aren't working for me. Does anyone know where I can find a clip of him singing Defying Gravity? I'm really interested.

Okay, does anyone know if there is only one performance of this by Marty? The one I heard was INSANELY high(higher than Raul's) but it was not in the same key as the original. Not the same octave as Idina Menzel. It was amazing, don't get me wrong, but it was not as high as the girl version.
yea i can't find the marty thomas one...anyone have that?
Is it just me or is Raul's a note or so lower...cuz I compared it to the OBC and it's lower...did everyone say it was the same notes? or am I just blonde? and where can I hear Marty Thomas's DG??

Raul's is in a completely different key than the original.

FYI, Marty's singing it in the same key as Raul. That high note is a B, not the high F that all of the women belt.

Can someone find us a clip?
And yeah, Raul's isn't very high at all. It's high for a bass, but it's in a comfortable tenor range.
YEAH- 3 pages of thread later.. and no one has posted him singing that song... can someone please PM me and let me know where I can find this guy singing this song? Thanks! Robert

Yeah, three pages of thread of no link to song. Can someone post a link or something or let us know if there isn't one? Thanks

Every time I see this thread title, I reasd it as "Marlo Thomas", and I think "She's WAY too old to play Elphaba!"
