Like others have said, I'm pretty sure Parker was referring to all the gossip column space wasted on chronicling her backstage feuds with the director rather than the bad reviews.
Here's Riedel's follow-up article after that very interesting Broadway.com interview (sorry it's the mobile version):

My favorite part of RTC's HEDDA GABLER was when the audience laughed at the end.

How does the play compare to "The Other Place"? Also, is the play entirely a drama?
It is not at all comparable to The Other Place, I think, just because they're very different. I think it's more successful as a piece of drama, in terms of overall structure and focus. The Other Place, I felt, was essentially a one-woman show that happened to have an ensemble- not entirely to its benefit. I also found it cliche and a bit "movie of the week". I don't think it could stand on its own strength; it needs a fantastic actress like Laurie Metcalfe.
The Snow Geese is an ensemble play, though the focus is more on that younger son- it covers the effect of WWI on American lives at home, which isn't seen too much. It's definitely a drama.
Thanks everyone for sharing memories of that production of Hedda; I usually trust Parker's judgment in regards to picking projects and creating (or interpreting in this case) a character, but this sounds like a huge misfire on every level.
Thanks for the intel on The Snow Geese, Kad, I'm glad to hear that it is a successful work of drama from the page alone. Really looking forward to seeing this and to see who will join the cast!

Has anyone heard anything re: casting, tickets, etc. for this production? It seems like it's coming up soon for us to know nothing yet...
