For those who enjoyed Mary Louise Wilson in GREY GARDENS, the article I wrote about her is up and running on the BWW homepage. You might enjoy reading it:

While I appreciate the kudos for Mary Louise Wilson, I still cannot get over the fact that she called out of a recent Boston Pops Concert Series 1 day prior to scheduling to appear.
She apparently felt it was "too intimidating" for her to perform A Little Night Music before a full orchestra. Nevermind that she would have a book to read out of and only 1 solo to sing. She also said she had a "conflicting engagement" despite it having been booked for months in advance.
I love the woman but will always resent this of her.

No. She will be unable to attend "due to a scheduling conflict," according to a June 11 press statement.

Aw, I love her. She's incredible.
However, theatre in the round is awesome, no matter what she says.

The article I wrote was supposed to promote Miss Wilson's appearance with the Pops. I received an e-mail from her telling me she'd withdrawn from the production. I think that was three days before the show was to open. She gave no reason for her withdrawal. However, she had mentioned to me previously that she'd been in rehearsal for two days and hadn't met anyone from the Pops organization. I don't know if there's a connection.
I had to do a bit of revision on the article so it could appear in its present form.
Still, I enjoyed talking to this very sweet lady.

That's a buncha bull. Christine was in the production as well and it's not like she couldn't have spoken with Christine if she had some concerns about the Pops. Christine has sang with the Pops before having appeared in "A Little Night Music".
I love her, too, but seriously...that's unexcusable.

An oldie but a goodie.

Posted: 6/24/08 at 4:09pm"Scheduling conflict" works so well. In this case, she was scheduled but decided not to perform after all -- that sounds like a "conflict" of scheduling all right!

Great article!
I also found it interesting that she played Rose (u/s) in that production to Maureen Moore's Dainty June whom later went on to u/s Little Edie to her Big Edie in Grey Gardens last season...

Wait, shes not performing in the July performance either now?
I thought that press release was for the first round of concerts in June and didn't make any mention of the Tanglewood concerts.
She is still listed on tanglewood's website:

Also, does anyone know if those tickets have been mailed yet? I never received mine...

She'd been removed from the tanglewood website:

They were able to give me a refund.
