Does she fly out across the audience at the end on the tour?

Yes but to the boxes.

What Theatrical said...for me, it's one of the best parts of the show. Find a kid to watch, and just watch their eyes get HUGE and then they get absolutely giddy as she flies out over the audience (just saw the show in LA...fourth time betwn Broadway and tour)
Depends on the architecture and other limitations of theatre the show is playing in. Different from city to city. In some cities (if not most) I don't think she flies into the auditorium at all.
Closest stop to me is Jacksonville, Florida so I am hoping she will.

When the show played in my Local Venue she just flew right off into the wings similar to what was shown on the Tony's this year. Luckily I also got to experience the broadway production. Either way the finale was still the magical thing I've ever experienced on the stage.
I do not believe they do the final audience flight anymore with the current tour. Networks took over the tour, so while Disney is still a partner, and all the sets remain in tact, the final flight was not at any stops in Canada, and the theatre were more then equipped to handle it. I would assume because Networks is doing much shorter runs now with the tour, so they see no need to figure out how to do it in each space. Oh well, still a spectacular show.
That's unfortunate that she no longer flys over the audience on the tour. I know when the tour first started they'd only play in venues that were capable of achieving the final flight. I thought it showed artistic integrity to keep the effect intact. I guess at some point though it all comes down to making money.

She flew out over the audience in the present incarnation at the Ahmanson in LA (saw it two weeks ago). She flew out over the audience in San Diego several months ago. Not sure what the determining factor is, but there ARE tour stops where this continues to happen.
There is also unconfirmed rumor that promoters have to pay extra for the flying into the auditorium effect if they want it to happen in their city.

My educated guess is not so much that there is an exact set fee, but that there is an extra time requirement for load in and load out, as well as an extra crew requirement for the performances, so the presenters may balk at that, especially if the show is going to start playing shorter engagements where the likelihood of making money on presenting it is reduced.

And I'd just like to reiterate that that is just my educated guess, based on the fact that it seems they are still doing the flying over the house in some cities and not others. I have no insider knowledge as to how that tour is being run.
Bumping this to see if anyone has seen the Networks tour recently and has any thoughts about it. I saw the original tour in LA and loved it, and the Networks version is coming to my area soon. Thanks in advance for any insights!
