#1Matinee Performance to an Evening Performance Question
Posted: 7/24/09 at 8:08pm

I tried doing a search for any other threads, but no luck.

So in 2 Sundays I will be seeing the matinee of South Pacific and then In the Heights at 7:00. I plan on getting South Pacific merchandise. Will I have any problem taking my South Pacific merchandise into In the Heights?

Also, we won't have any trouble getting all the way from The Lincoln Center to the Richard Rodgers in 1 hour, will we?

Of course you won't have a problem taking your merchandise into the theatre. You could even wear a South Pacific t-shirt and they wouldn't bat an eyelid.

I can't imagine you'd have a problem with either the merchandise or the travel time.

It's a reasonable question. Some theaters make you check excess baggage, but I think you should be fine with merchandise. The walk from Lincoln Center to ITH is just over a mile. You can easily walk it on a nice day, or take the subway in very little time.

Enjoy your shows!

The merchandise will absolutly be no problem.
I have gone to numerous matinee and evening shows even holding merchandise in my hand, I was never questioned.

and best bet is in Licoln Center take the Number 1 train downtown. i believe its one stop or so.

Yeah, the 1 train is definitely the way to go. Get off at 50th street instead of Times Square so you don't have to back track.

Or three stops, but who's counting? Sure, you can catch the 1 train at 66th st and Broadway, which will stop at 59th, 50th, and 42nd, or just walk down Broadway. It'll time out perfectly if you don't stop to shop much.

eta: you can do what heo says, too. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

I can't believe I never considered taking the subway. I've never been on the subway and think it is something I'll have to try this time around. Thanks everyone for your help.

If the weather cooperates, I'd definitely say walking is your best bet - just head down Broadway to the Times Square area. It probably won't take much more time than the subway trip would, considering the time it takes to get into the subway, get on the platform, wait for a train, etc.
