I'm happy Jordan didn't originate it. He has "Supergirl", and didn't get stuck with this clunker of a show. The Tony snubs weren't even snubs. Did anyone seriously think it had a chance at getting a single nomination? Weinstein isn't the only thing that ruined the show, folks.

Jeremy Jordan is not a "real" Broadway person?

You mean Jeremy Jordan...? Yes, that's already been suggested.

Hamilton22 said: "The tony snub was absolutely ridiculous. The voters were punishing the cast for their obnoxious producer. Just disgusting. Tony voters act like 10 year olds sometimes. I'm not saying it should have gotten 10 tony awards but the COMPLETE snub was just childish. "

1) Tony NOMINATORS (not voters) pick who gets nominations. The Voters have barely anything to do with nominations except for the fact that what 10% (maybe 15 or 20% - I can't remember the number of voters aff the top of my head) of them are also nominators. If you want to call the likes of Rick Elice, Adam Guettel, Cheyenne Jackson, Stephen Karam, and Mary-Louise Parker childish, go right ahead.

2) I know a number of Tony voters who went on comps and did not like it at all, and that would have been reflected whether it was nominated or not. You know who else didn't get nominations? It Shoulda Been You and Fish in the Dark, both of which are fine shows and don't have people blame their lack on nominations on their producer. A few have wondered why some of the design elements didn't get nominations, and that is a valuable question, but the truth is there are only so many shows and so many slots. Some shows get ignored. That's just the way it is (it sucks, but it is what it is).

TV clunkers pay way better than Broadway clunkers.

I, personally, prefer Jeremy to Matthew but am 99% sure Jeremy wouldn't come back even if asked (which I don't even think they would ask him). I'm interested to see who they get next.

You're really going out on a limb there, predicting a series regular on a TV Show that tapes in L.A. wouldn't do 8 shows a week in NYC... heh. That alone would sort of preclude the scenario entirely, no?

I never claimed to be going out on a limb. I suppose I should have specified, I think even if Supergirl weren't in the picture he likely wouldn't want to go/be asked back.

I'm pretty sure that Supergirl only had the back 7 episodes that were just ordered left to film. I'm not sure how long it would take to film those so nobody really knows his actual availability but he should have some coming up since most television shows wrap for the season early in the year.

As much as I want to see Jordan as Barrie, I agree with the comment that he probably wouldn't come back. Also, Harvey probably wants a bigger name.

What kind of role would people like to see Mathew take when(if) he does another Broadway role? I have dream casted him in the singing in the rain revival.

I totally see him doing The Singin' In The Rain revival, especially with Harvey attatched.
I could also see him taking a break from theater again and focusing on films/tv

Unfortunately Jeremy ( who I love) got saddled with "SuperGirl", a clunker of a TV show where he is totally wasted as the superfluous  sidekick.

Matt got a lot of cred finally headlining/starring  in a BW show that grossed impressively.

Wouldn't be surprised if he headed another show being mounted by next year.

I know it's not the popular opinion, but I adored the show and can't stop listening to the CD. Matthew Morrison was out the day I went (November... 15th ish?)  And we may go again in January, but the week after he leaves.

But Kevin Kern did a wonderful job. Perhaps he'd take over? Assuming they can't get a "star" name.

He's great in "Supergirl", and in my opinion, it's the opposite of a clunker television show. I'm 100% okay with him being the superfluous sidekick. Anything to see him be a nice character for once.

Wouldn't the opposite of clunker be a hit?! Not a show that had ratings dropping every subsequent week... I can't speak to whether it got any better, I had to stop watching three episodes in, when every character had to keep saying who they were and why they were on the screen. "Hey, I'm your sister, so I know a thing or two about..." Painful.

This is my opinion...I'm upset to see matt leave Neverland. I'm surprised he's not staying on for a few more weeks with Grammar. Personally I wanted to see Grammar and Morrison together in the show. Unfortunately I got my tickets after Grammar went on his "leave of absence".

I feel if it was a big name they would have announced it already. I guess they are trying to get through the holidays? If they announce a name that's equal to or bigger than Morrison people might hold off to see the show? I just hope they announce it soon. I want to know if I should spend the money to see Morrison one more time or wait for someone else to take the role.

I think they realize they don't need two names to sell this show, since Peter Pan is what most people are going for anyway, so Morrison leaves, fine, and then Kelsey is back for a while, so then before Kelsey leaves, we just have to announce another Barrie replacement... or they could find out that with no names it still sells in the same ballpark? I had to tell people who Morrison was when I saw it last month.

Still can't believe that ten months later some of you are still bitching about Jordan, he got passed over, get over it, some like , some hate the show, but it done well enough. But really ten months have passed and still going on, for jebus sake

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Jordan not a Broadway name

Does Bonnie & Clyde come to mind?  What about Smash?

Ain't bitching.Just threw his name into the mix .Have not seen it and probably will not so I have no axe to grind . I have nothing to "get over .

Weinstein seems to lean toward TV/movie/pop stars over Broadway names, so I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to extend the life of the show through stunt casting. The only question is "who?". Would they offer someone like Justin Timberlake or Joseph Gordon Levitt the Barrie role for a few weeks to get them through the winter months? There are probably plenty of seasoned Broadway guys who might be available, but I doubt that Weinstein will go in that direction. I would expect another TV name.

Speaking of seasoned Broadway guys, it's too bad (for us, not for him) that Brian D'arcy James never got a chance to take this role beyond his original reading. That would have been fun to see. He's one of those guys  who, every time you see him, you recognize a new facet of his talent that you may have overlooked before. I just saw him in Spotlight, and although his part is not as flashy as some of the others, I was impressed with how he so accurately conveyed that blue collar Boston persona without descending into stereotype. A very subdued and nuanced performance. I'm a bigger fan of his that I was before, and I was already a fan.

I saw this coming a mile away. I knew when the reviews came in and all of the added turis of Harvey Weinstein, that he was not going to stay with the show.

So the question is, who is going to replace him, knowing that they are joining a show with baggage and no chance of critical acclaim.

Matt Morrison including the pre opening run would  have been with the show close to a year so I Hardly think he's bailing from the show.

if this comment is in reference to Kelsey Grammar, who knows what the reasons were for his leaving back in Sept but the fact he's coming back in January means he still has some committment / obligations.

As to whether FN needs big name stars or whether the Peter Pan connection was the main reason, many shows with bigger names and just as potentially attractive literary references have crashed and burned, so regardless of what the "mix" was in FN, it worked.   Certainly nobody can deny Matthew Morrison was a large part of that mix.

i get that some hate the show with the intensity of a thousand suns but in today's BW it's not "enough" just to reference Peter Pan to be a box office hit.
