re: re: re: re: re: re: Melanie Griffith

I did see her up close when Antonio was signing autographs. Someone in my area called her over. I am sure her pictures are airbrushed. She looks older than 45. Not to be catty,, but MEOW!!!!!!!!!!! I don't even have all those lines around my eyes. MEOW!!!!!!!!!

lol, Mel will say "I'm older than I ever intended to be" night after night, start believing it, go and get ANOTHER face lift, and come back the next day looking 21!! re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Melanie Griffith

I thought Deidre was so awesome in Chicago the Movie, but a friend saw her in Nine and said she has diva presence and dance but can't sing a lick! is that true, if so does she ruin Velma cuz of it??

re: re: Melanie Griffith

Deidre is much better in Chicago, I think, than she was in Nine. The music in Nine just isn't well-suited to her voice, it sounded a little too high for her or something. I'm no expert on these matters, but she seems to have a lower, belty-type voice, which works much, much better for Velma than it did for Our Lady of the Spa.

She's had a few runs as Velma now, both on Broadway and on tour, and while I wouldn't say she was my absolute favorite, she can certainly sing it and is a lot of fun to watch. (She also sounded great as Magenta in the Rocky Horror Show revival...I think she only got to go on once, though.)

re: An Apology to Lass

Dear Lass,

I'm sorry for making you feel discomfort. I've been known to keep people in stiches, but I sincerely hope you didn't POP any stitches because of my venomous comments.

I know how horrible it can be to laugh after surgery. I had a procedure done in my nether region a few months ago and chose not to be hospitalized that night because I didn't want to miss WILL AND GRACE. (Yeah, I know: prioroties!) Everything went well at home, but that particular episode of W&G turned out to be the funniest one all season and I was in fierce pain every time I laughed. Still, it was worth it just to see my Eric!

Hopefully you'll have a speedy recovery.

re: Stage Door

Will someone please report on the activity outside the stage door of the Ambassador Theater after CHICAGO lets out? Are there adoring throngs, or have the audiences shown up with pitchforks and switchblades? Inquiring minds want to know!

re: re: Stage Door

Now that the beguiling Ms Griffith has made such a vivid impression on New York audiences, let's find other roles suitable for her inestimable talents....

Mama Rose?

The Girl in the Yellow Dress?

Amneris?

Mame?

Edna Turnblad?

Aldonza?

Fanny Brice?

Daisy Hilton?

Rose Alvarez?

Nelly Lovett?

Nellie Forbush?

Maria Von Trapp?

,,,,,, ah, with talent like Ms. Griffith's, the world is her clam!

Ok if we're going to resort to petty ignorance then nevermind. Sorry I tried to get along with you.

I thought we were on to something hot, PJ. Maybe we should write a musical called EVITA DOLLYPOP and tailor it for the inestimable talents of Melanie Griffith.

Let's see... it has to be written for a woman who can't sing or dance......

This makes me want to go and see her. Anyone think she might get better with time and actually be adequate??

re: re: re: re: re: re: Melanie Griffith

If she got any worse she'd be selling pencils in front of the Howard Johnson's on Times Square!

re: re: re: Stage Door

New roles for Melanie? I can think of two that she's a natural for, Mammy Yokim in Lil Abner and Medea.
