Also I think CJR needs to let them know that Melanie did NOT win the Oscar for her performance in The Working Girl. She was nominated...but not according to someone in that post.

Oh lord...that forum is positively frightening. I don't know if it's a result of surrounding myself with snarky forums for years, but I don't even want to laugh at those posters...I just want to weep. Really, I don't think I've heard anyone compliment Melanie Griffith EVER!!
And their Cabaret comments....oy vey.

I've never heard Griffith complimented either. But I'd still love to see her as Roxie. Just to see what all the fuss is about. But...I want to see Chicago in all it's glory. Not w/ a serious case of stunt casting gone awry.

BG2, let me tell you Antonio is gorgeous in person. He is a little small for my tastes but he has a handsome face. I sat not two feet from the stage and he stood in front or nearly in front of me many times. He has light eyes and beautiful long eyelashes plus he is very charismatic.......yum yum. I had to wear a bib to keep from drooling.

With the toght grip that Mels must keep on his balls, they probably are kinda small by now.

This is in response to Melanie's performance, and the throngs at the stage door...
First off, I saw the show a few weeks before Melanie's performance and thought the cast did a wonderful job...Then, I saw Melanie's opening night, and I still thoguht the cast was wonderful...Melanie just should not be on boadway in a musical that needs a singer, dancer and actress...Thats all I am saying...
Next, the stage door...There were two cops that kept saying, "move along, they arent signing autographs, mover oe you'll be arrested." Well, since I never follow directions, I stayed, not to see Melanie and her hubby, but to see the rest of the cast...The cops finally put up barricades, and people pushed to get up close...Finally, Melanie and Antonio came out, and there was mroe pushing and shoving....Two women pusehd their way in front of me and were climbing on the barricade shouting things at Antonio in spanish I believe...Everyone around them was shooting them looks...As soon as Melanie and Antonio left, the crowd despearsed...
Has it been like that any other nights?

Yes, Theaterdiva that is exactly what happened when we ran over to see Antonio come out after Nine. We were there a little later because we had been at the evening performance of Hairspray. The crowd was huge. The stage door was surrounded on both sides and there were many fans standing across the street. There were the limos parked outside. We could not get that close. We had these frenzied Spanish women in front of us. The cops were obnoxious with the fans. The would not let you walk in the street or go an inch beyond a barricade. You could not stand in the street near a limo to get a peek. They were screaming we would all be arrested. I have never seen that behaviour from cops at any stage door. It say the least, it was very disconcerting. People love the man so what if they are excited. I felt like taking that cop's badge number and reporting him. He was so so obnoxious and enjoying every minute of being that way. P.S. When I was at the stage door of Enchanted April, no one was there and very few stars came out. But, that was in the afternoon. That is when Charlotte Rae walked right in front of me.

I think we should all start a "People Against Melanie Griffith" campaign.... (just like our "People Against Mr. George" campaign when George Hamilton was in the company, only now, we'd take him over Melanie in a heartbeat!)
