I was thinking about the part of Gabey in ON THE TOWN and what a great part it is for an actor. Who would you consider a triple threat (amazing singer, dancer, actor) that could play the part?

Ummmm...Gabey is a guy. I'm confused.
sorry already changed that... realized i made a mistake when rereading it. thanks though! :)
Isn't the term triple threat usually used for talented females?
I've never heard a male considered a triple threat. Yes there are men who can sing, dance and act. but usually they call females triple threats.

A triple threat is a strong actor-singer-dancer. There is no gender associated with it.
As for the role of Gabey, I'll have to think. Michael Gruber would be great although he could perhaps read as a little too old even though I don't think so. I'll do some brain storming and get back with ya.
thank you wonderboy for playing along!! :)

I've still only heard females called triple threats (Chita, Gwen, Debbie Allen, Reinking, Bebe, Ziemba, etc etc)
I just usually associate that term with a female performer. In a article you ususally see a female called a triple threat, not the male - even though the male can do all 3.
But I think I will shut up now.

Hugh Jackman has been referred to as a triple threat...
Not to be nasty, but I wouldn't call Reinking a triple threat because I don't like her voice.
got-a-light - chill dude!
ljay889, Ben Vereen, Tommy Tune, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Bob Fosse, Gregory Hines and Lee Roy Reams all pop into my mind right away when I think of male triple threats.
"Not to be nasty, but I wouldn't call Reinking a triple threat because I don't like her voice." ! shameless
I hear what you are saying but just because you don't care for her voice doesn't stop her from being considered a triple threat. GOODTIME CHARLEY anyone?
A triple threat to play Gabey... Noah Racey pops into my head.

True.
Unless most people would agree that a person should be an excellent singer, dancer and actor; and would also agree that she is not an excellent singer. In that case, that would disqualify her for the title of a triple threat. LOL :)
Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. I don't think she has a horrible voice it's just her own style/signature. She has been cast in several vocal leads though so it does allude to the idea that she is a true triple threat.
Chita, most definitely. More recently, however, Sutton Foster. Possibly Charlotte D'Amboise? I'd like to think of Sara Gettelfinger as a triple threat, but not very well-known.
Joe Brooks! Author, director and producer of In My Life.
I swear I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I always thought that a degree of excellence in all three categories was required to be a called a true triple thread.
Hell, most Broadway performers can sing, dance and act in some capacity. They're not all triple threats, are they?
Oh, and to answer the question, I think Michelle DeJean is a triple threat, as well as, one of the most underrated perfomers on Broadway.
Nope! Like I said, I agree with you. When I think of true female triple threats that are excellent in all three I think of Chita, Bebe, Charlotte, Donna, Debbie, Karen, once upon a time even Bernie, etc., but I also think of Gwen who had a voice much like Annie's. Boy talk about thread jacking!
On a side note, I wouldn't consider Sutton a triple threat.
Sutton who?
JK. Me neither, but prepare to be attacked.
LOL Yeah, I kinda prepared for that as soon as I typed it.
OHMFGBUTSUTTONIS LIKETEHBEXT EVER!1!!1
No, really. Sutton is talented, but in no league NEAR Chita, Charlotte, along with others. However, compared to the actresses more recently trying their hand at all three elements, she seems to stand out to me. Then again, I have a very..er...flexible, criteria of who is a triple-threat and who isn't.
Hahahaha!
Yeah, while Millie "danced" I don't think of Sutton as a dancer. I see her as more of a comedic mover like Carol Burnett.
