Well, still. You have got to say, he's very good at "moving well".
Cheyenne Jackson, he sings, dances, and acts quite well.
David Engle is definitely a triple threat...Unfortunately he hasn't done a show on Broadway in a long time.
I actually don't know if Raúl's got much serious dance training, though to do what he does, he's got to have some. His background, though, isn't mostly musical theatre. As for him up against someone like NLB, though - I just can't picture Norbert doing more traditional choreography. Maybe I can be proven wrong.
Seems a pretty fine line between "extremely talented and well rounded" and true triple-threat, though.
Oh he moves incredibly well, as do Norbert and the other people mentioned above. But the fact is none of them (including Cheyenne) are trained dancers. They could never do leading dance roles. Thus, they move well.
Donna McKechnie is probably one of the greatest triple threats of all time.
Though I am not an incredible fan of hers, Melissa Errico used to be in my dance class, and she is definitely a triple threat.

Definitely Michael Berresse, with whom I've just recently become familiar. My jaw dropped when I first saw 'Bianca' on the DVD of the West End's recent Kiss Me Kate. My. God.
I'd like to say Roger Bart, but I have a feeling he falls into the "moves well" category. He was fabulous as Leo in The Producers, and his dancing was partly why (not to mention the other triple threat components - his singing and acting were, as always, flawless).

My vote goes to Matt Cavenaugh (URBAN COWBOY, PALM BEACH).
How did we forget Charlotte d'Amboise for the ladies?
I agree too be a triple threat - you need training in ALL 3 areas. This term seems it's getting used too freely now.

Scott Wise!!
Wonderboy, I think pretty much all of the original Chicago revival ensemble are triple threats...though I admit I don't think I've never heard Rocker Verastique sing. (Where the heck is he, anyway??)
Tommy Tune can still dance...he's still performing.
(Matt Cavenaugh!?!? He's hot, but...c'mon...)

Yes, I was just thinking Alan Cumming, too, and wondering what is he up to these days . . .
Which are the great male triple threat roles? Which part would someone have to play to highlight the fact that they're a triple threat. I think that the parts of Charity and Roxie are female triple roles but which shows needs a male triple threat?

We didn't forget Charlotte. I had mentioned her before.
Sorry, I can't read. Well I forgot to mention her in my list.
Paige Davis and Janine LaManna are other triple threats.

As far as lead roles for a triple threat male, I think the title role in Pal Joey would have to be a triple threat - if it's done the way the show was originally, with Joey a dancer and not a crooner like in the movie with Frank Sinatra. Also most of the male roles in A Chorus Line require triple threats.
Um...I think the Leading Player in Pippin works best as a triple threat, but even in Fosse's shows the male leads usually didn't have to dance as much as the women did...
Others -- The male leads in SINGIN IN THE RAIN.
Billy Lawlor in 42ND STREET
Bobby in CRAZY FOR YOU
Will Parker in OKLAHOMA!

I totally agree about Charlotte!
I've never seen any of those shows so am ignorant of their requirments. Any other ideas?
How about Bert in Mary Poppins -- you know that one...
Someone needs to change the title on the main thread because it's not just about the boys!

And I would imagine Billy in Billy Elliot...

Shows/roles needing male triple threats:
1. Riff in West Side Story
2. Mike/Richie/Mark/Don in A Chorus Line (any male role really in that show)
3. Bobby in Crazy For You
4. Billy in 42nd Street (already mentioned)
5. leading men in On The Town
6. Emcee in Cabaret (not a must, but it helps)
7. Frankenfurter in Rocky Horror (once again, not a must but it helps)
8. male ensemble of Chicago
9. Seaweed in Hairspray (anyone else agree?)
10. male ensemble of La Cage aux Folles
Sure, not all of them absolutely positively have to be male triple threats, but it helps. But most of those roles almost have to have a male triple threat to make it work.
I've played Gabey in On The Town before. What a FUN show and yes...there are such things as male triple threats. Whoever said that term is only for females is mistaken.
Great list! Bill in Me and My Girl; Charley in Where's Charley?; and Munkustrap in Cats also come to mind.
