According to gossip at the opening night, they haven't officially decided until May - but are considering
Me and My Girl The Pajama Game Mame
Any of these would be great; but I really hope they opt for Mame (the unlikley one) Perfect for the xmas season and it has been so long since anyone has tackled this for a big proffesional revival.
I wish they had pulled their finger out and got on with 'Pippin' or 'Sweet Charity' but I will be very happy to settle with 'Mame'. Its 40 years since London had her last.
'The Pyjama Game' has never faired well in the West End. Its last production closed after just 7 weeks at the Victoria Palace. 'Me And My Girl' would be a strange one to do in a small space. Its one of those shows that crys out for a big production.
Apparently they don't want to do another Sondheim two years in a row.
It think Mame is perfect, I hope we get a helping to this. Who'd make a good Mame Dennis? Maybe too old now but I think who would have been perfect would have been Joanna Lumley.
As to "whats mame" ... Mama I hope that gun has two bullets. Shoot me too. Google now quickly dear or buy the cast album!
This is kind of un-related, but is anyone else here using Spotify? You can (legally) stream thousands of tracks, including many cast albums, with only a few adverts on the free version. It's great to get a taster of albums if you're interested in them - Mame is on there, along with the new Oliver etc... http://www.spotify.com/en/
Shame the City Centres Encore New York production with Christine Baranski in Mame fom a few years ago never got picked up for Broadway... lord if Finigans Rainbow has..!
Mama I thought it was the Donmar that was considering Pippin or Sweet Charity?
I have to admit that I dont really know Mame either. I hoep they dont do Me and My Girl, to be it should be a big show, not a one for small venue. But thats just me
