Stephanie J. Block would make an AMAZING Fanny Brice on Broadway! They played a recording of her in a regional theatre production singing "Don't Rain on my Parade" on the fabulous Jim Caruso's Cast Party. It blew me away!

It's hard for me to imagine any new musical not having Idina in it at this point. I'm figuring we're due for a revival of Raisin within the next few years and I can't imagine anybody but Idina as Beneatha Younger.

AMEN! Julia Murney NEEDS to play this role-she stopped the show in the Actor's Fund Benefit and if anyone is going to take this role and make people forget that someone very famous did it before, it's Julia.

oh, Voice - thank God - I think Menzel is completely wrong for funny girl. (though she IS kinda freaky looking up-close on the screen, which would be good for the role) but I can't imagine her singing it....

and she was not good at that benefit (yes, I attended) she's not a Funny girl, funny girl....maybe neither is Christina but Menzel should have soared in CORONET MAN and she clunked...

Maybe because they look exactly alike and if I didn't know better, I would confuse Espinosa and Menzel too. And no, for once, I'm not being sarcastic. And now, back to sarcasm... why aren't we mentioning Cheno and Ripley and Butler for funny girl. I can't think of 3 more wrong casting choices, so therefore I am surprised that we're only talking about Menzel and Murney.

I just saw a high school production of Funny Girl and after it, I thought that Idina must do this role.. I didnt want to post due to all of the idina posts..
Also, Stephanie J. Block came to mind also, and someone else mentioned her..
