Oh Al! I so remember the posts here about how Sutton (an All-American gal who looks like she could be a cheerleader on a Cornflakes box) would be PERFECT for the role of the gawky, homely big-beaked 'meeskite' Fanny Brice.

The show stinks? Where? The problem is only u need a really strong performer in this show. Fanny is on 80% of the show & thats a strain for any body . When u factor in the songs (& dances) its a killer show. After Striesand left I recall the show cont'd and toured quite successfully. I believe Julie Budd was one of the Fannys And Maralyn (Miller?) Oh ! & of course Lanie Kazan!

Why revive this? You cannot get better than Barbra. And if they do they really do need a jewish girl, Menzel would butcher the songs.

Menzel couldn't pass as unattractive.

Menzel is an exotic beauty. Meaning one may not consider her drop-dead gorgeous at first sight, but after closer examination, she's actually quite stunning. I, in all honesty, do believe that Idina Menzel could very well be the prettiest woman I have ever seen. She's not perfect, but who is?

And as for "Funny Girl"...
I read in some interview w/ Idina where someone asked her about maybe starring in a revival of FG, and she responded w/ something like "I don't know. No one could ever touch Streisand." Again, I forget where I read this, maybe Broadway.com's Q&A w/ her a while back?
