So I was at Merchant tonight (fantastic production!) and at the stage door someone asked Pachino if the production would extend and he said they are taking a break at the end of the current run and then opening back up in the spring..the guy also asked if it was with someone else and in typical Pachino fashion he said "with Me!"

Obviously you cant confirm anything until there is an official statement, but I think thats good news. I know there were rumors of an extension, and with what I overheard tonight I think it sounds pretty likely

Isaiah Johnson and three other cast members told me they were officially extending. They will take the rest of January off and re-open supposedly in February and run for at least 3 weeks to a month.

That is fabulous news. I'm thrilled more people will have the opportunity to see this amazing production.

Not to mention the fact that, if this happens, it will serve as a "reminder" to the Tony voters. And if it wins some of the big awards (Best Revival, Best Actor, Best Actress), anyone planning to see it is going to be gravely disappointed, as I'm sure it will be long since gone (remember Fences last year?).

Someone just told me that Pacino missed a performance on Saturday. Does anyone know why?

Did Richard Topol go on for Pacino? He's a terrific actor. I'd love to see him as Shylock.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

It's been known since before previews started that it was going to extend (once Dreamgirls announced it was closing on the road).

I did standing room for the matinee on Saturday the 18th and Pacino was in and performing a masterful Shylock. I felt the entire production was well worth the 3-hour running time (w/ one intermission).

What marvelous news! Though the tying up of the lovers' storylines still feels a little, uh, push-and-pull after that revelatory climactic courtroom scene (+ Sullivan's magical addendum), it's still one of the best shows running. I hope everyone gets a chance to experience it.

The Box Office attendant informed me that, since the entire run is sold out, Standing Room for any performance (up to capacity) is available in advance at any time you wish to purchase it for $26.50 each.

Thank you Donelbee, I had no luck with buying a ticket online, so I was going to try for a lottery, instead of taking a chance with that maybe I will pick up a ticket for standing room.

Pre-sale for Amex Preferred seating started today (12/21) for added shows, Feb 1 - 20, general public sales start the 28th.

So glad to get a ticket ? Updated On: 12/21/10 at 12:53 PM
