Do they set aside a select number of seats for the lottery, or is it always based on what's left in the mezzanine in the time immediately preceding the curtain? The policy as described on Playbill.com was not as clear as I'd like it to be.

I have yet to win, but yeah it is 17 tickets in the back of the mezzanine. My guess is that it is the last row of the two side sections of the mezzanine (just counted and that is 17 seats)
Thank you both very much. :)

It's exactly what willep said it was. The side sections of the last row of the mezz. The seats are fine. I won lotto in the first week, and it was REALLY easy. My guess, however, is that the lotto crowd has increased sizably since.
Thanks to all of you for your help. Using it, I had the excellent fortune of winning the lottery for the Saturday matinee. I had this to say about it in an e-mail I sent to an acquaintance earlier today...
"He was absolutely wonderful - fresh and inventive, as though he had only just commenced performances. I was extremely fortunate to get a ticket to the matinee. I found the most effective scene to be the one devoid of dialogue. His body language when facing his forced baptism made an indelible impression. People around me were gasping. The direction was polished and precise..."
I had the foresight to bring my "Dog Day Afternoon" DVD in with me, which Mr. Pacino autographed.
It was a wonderful day. Thanks again for the information.
