I am generally not an opera person, so for once I'm out of the loop on ticketbuying: is there such a thing as discounts to Met Opera productions? Or an equivalent of TKTS/TDF/BroadwayBox for The Met?
Terence Blanchard & Kasi Lemmons' "Fire Shut Up in My Bones" looks fabulous and is the first opera by a Black composer in the Met's history, but good seats are pricey.
Thanks, all.
The Metropolitan Opera does offer $35 discount tickets to full-time students, there also is a weekly rush line. The rules are explained on their website. There is not a TKTS equivalent. You may not need this because this season performances begin at $25.
If you are a first-time opera goer you will be enthralled by the Franco Zeffirelli jaw-dropping productions of La Bohème and Turandot that have been the backbone of this opera house for decades.

Friday under 40 program is still there, if you qualify. $60 and $80 tickets for grand tier and orchestra seats. Also, in the past I remember seeing discounted tickets on TodayTix, not sure if this is still an option. There are also rush tickets, it's all on their website.

Every once in a rare while TDF will offer tickets to Met productions that aren't selling out. When the Las Vegas-set RIGOLETTO was 1st presented, virtually every performance of it was on TDF.

Another option:
You might want to try Live from the Met in HD. Check which multiplex in your area does Fathom Events. They'll be presenting FIRE IN MY BONES next Saturday (I already have my ticket) I get a senior discount but I think the standard price is $23.00 or so.
Thanks, all!
I HAVE been to operas at the Met several times, but have never actually paid for tickets.

I will just say it's great to have friends who work there. Forgive my shameless plug, but PLEASE go see Porgy and Bess, featuring my beautiful friend Ryan Speedo Green!
