I have mixed feelings about him. I liked him in It's Only a Play, but I saw him as Horatio in Hamlet last year and he was just awful. Totally wooden and miscast. Unfortunately the memory of that performance has tainted my opinion of him. Also he kind of seems like a Michael Urie knock-off.

Sure are. Broadwayworld has both. And IBDB has The Front Page since it was a Broadway production.

He did two plays at Williamstown Theatre Festival last summer -- The Model American and Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow Moscow -- and his IMDb page lists a few movies in post-production and a forthcoming TV show. Seems like he's keeping pretty busy. Moscow is coming to New York this season, so it's possible he might return for that production.

According to imdb, he's done a few TV shows lately: "Escape at Dannemora" and "Bonding." I confess I've never heard of either.

It sounds like, despite the Tony nomination for It's Only a Play, he's like many young working actors. I'm not surprised his career didn't blow up, though. I don't mean that as a slight in any way- he's more idiosyncratic than producers know what to do with.

There may be only so much room for eccentric, effete young-ish character actors, and there's already Jesse Tyler Ferguson (not so young anymore), T.R. Knight (not so young anymore), Michael Urie (is 37 young?), Chris Colfer (30 in a few years), Sean Hayes (not young at all...), Jim Parsons (ditto), etc., etc., etc.

Michael Urie has had quite a boom in the theatre world lately. It makes me very happy to see that he can still present somewhat relatively young.

Agreed. I wouldn't lump Urie in with the others.

Escape at Dannemora hasn't aired yet; it's a series from Showtime directed by Ben Stiller.
Bonding is a short-form web series that's being developed for a digital platform I've never heard of called Blackpills. Apparently it's being released there and on Apple TV in July.
