Thanks for that detailed review. Between this and LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, I'd definitely like to plan a springtime theatre trip to London.

Avoid getting caught up in the price-increases surrounding the Olympics.
I completely forgot that was happening. If I do go--and that's a very big "if" at this point--it would probably be in May or early June, so I'd hopefully miss the hoopla.
I, too, was toying with a London trip in April/Early May. Knowing this is happening makes me want to firm that up!!!
Anyone have any idea when the price-increses will happen re: Olympics?? Will there be pre-Olympic fever of sorts??
Michael Ball was on QVC UK today to promote his new DVD, but a second interview has been posted where they talk about Sweeney Todd - it includes clips of Michael singing "My Friends"
Michael Ball on QVC UK
Love the clips. They both seem really right for this.
I'd like to publicly thank AC126748 for planning my London theatre trip for next spring!
I'm sure this has been asked somewhere, but when can we expect the recording to released on iTunes?
I don't have the answer for that...but I did happen to get to see this in London two weeks ago.
I'd say it is in the top 5 productions of anything I've ever seen in my life. It was thrilling from beginning to end. Michael Ball (for whom I've never had great affection) was magnificent. He sang it beautifull, and he was brutal and heartbreaking in equal measure. His EPIPHANY was genuinely unsettling...bordering on terrifying.
I will gladly climb out on a limb and say that Imelda Staunton is the single best Mrs. Lovett I've ever seen. She brought equal measures of heart, humor and steeliness to her extraordinary performance. Natasha Richardson in Cabaret will probably always remain the best performance I've ever witnessed. But Staunton's Lovett is a very close second.
The rest of the cast was quite good and the staging and design elements were outstanding. The ensemble sounded spectacular. If you get a chance, RUN to see this.
