Blakemore is a great choice for one of Noel Coward's funniest plays.
Opens in March, 2009 at a Shubert house, produced by "Speed-the-Plow" producing team.

It's a funny play but only if it has the right cast.

Wonder who's going to be doing Madame Arcati? That role can always steal the show.
I love this show...can't wait to see who they cast

Andrea Martin springs to mind as a good choice.

I wonder if they will bring in real Brits.

Perish the thought! That costs money and time!
ETA: Would love to see Paxton Whitehead in it, too. Or is he too old nowadays?

Too old. Charles should be around 45 - 50 at most.
Always happy to get another chance to see this .... but I'd be even HAPPIER if we were getting HIGH SPIRITS ! !
Casting against the grain,: Blythe Danner as Mde. Arcati.
one of my favorite plays-very excited.
Would love to see "High Spirits" as well.
Would also like to see Tammy Grimes as Arcati this time around.

Do you think they'll cast it with a bunch of faux Brits, or real Brits? Or a mix?
Geraldine Page died during the last revival's run. I think they closed the show pretty abruptly after that.
Yay. Another revival of a worn-to-the-stump regional theatre standard.
Oh, well. The wasteland of plays on Broadway is really disconcerting.
Very excited for this show!

So, true, BB.
But it's all "new" to the masses who can't remember what they ate for breakfast this morning. ...Or the people who think "Noel Coward" was some dude who must have been scared by Christmas.
If they go with real Brits, I think Charles Edwards (late of The 39 Steps) would be a great Charles Condomine.
Revive the musical!
Christine Ebersole and Miranda Richardson to play the wives.
Ralph Fiennes as the husband.
Maggie Smith as Madame Arcati; get the Tony ready for her.
That would be a great cast. Now we are suppose to apologize for not being 100 yrs. old and seeing the original Broadway cast? Sheesh!
If it's good, it's good. I don't understand why so many of you think nothing original will turn up on stage? At least with the older stuff, it doesn't seem like a complete re-run of you just saw or worse, avoided at the Movie Theatre lately.
Some suggestions of what should be coming to the big stage from a book or off-Broadway is what I rather be reading from those of you right now. Maybe I missed the book?
