Does anyone know what MICHAEL CERVERIS is planning to do after FUN HOME closes in September? He's such a talent and I hope he returns to Broadway immediately after, maybe in another Sondheim show???
Such a talent!!
My guess is that he'll probably do the role on tour for a litle bit.

My guess is that he will take some time off to live in his house in New Orleans and play music.
My guess is he'll probably appear in a new Broadway musical (or maybe a revival).
I think he will probably finish his work in Fun Home on Broadway and move onto another project. Probably.
I was thinking the other day that he'd be a terrific Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman.
I still want John Doyle to do A Little Night Music with Cerveris, Jane Krakowski, and Chita Rivera.
he's been in a lot of readings and workshops while doing Fun Home. the dude is gonna take a break until another awesome show comes along and do tv and film before that happens
I'd be very surprised if he toured; there's no real reason to do so, unless he wants the pay check. He will have opened and closed the show, a wonderful career marker, won a Tony. But he'll be done. If he opts to Idina-ize the tour -- maybe do L.A. and SF and Chicago -- perhaps. But he's not a Menzel, and won't sell tickets. There's no career incentive, and it is an ensemble piece, not his vehicle.
It won't happen but I'd kill to see him take over a few cities on the Hedwig tour

I agree that it won't happen, but that would be awesome. I'd get on a plane for that. I can't see him doing the Fun Home tour. I think he'll go down to Nawlins, maybe do a few shows with his band. I think they're called Loose Cattle, but he'll be back on Broadway soon.
OMG... To get to see my favorite Broadway star (beyond ANDY KARL) in my favorite Broadway role would be a dream come true...
Would love to see CERVERIS and JUDY KUHN do SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE... Such talents ...
Beyond the fact that it doesn't really make sense career-wise, Cerveris has frequently talked about how draining playing Bruce is for him. At this point, between the run at the Public and the Broadway run, he's been living with the character for years, so I'd imagine he'd want to leave it behind once after September.

I wouldn't mind seeing him as John Keating in CSC's production of Dead Poet's Society.
OP, I'm sorry this is off-topic and petty, but you don't have to put names of shows in all caps, and you especially don't have to put the names of people in all caps. In fact, in general you might want to lessen your use of capitalization, as well as ellipses. I'm sorry if this comes off as an uncalled-for jab, but it's just very jarring to read your posts.
I've personally heard him say how he'd love to play Hedwig again.

I agree. All-capped show names are one of my petty hates.

Maybe he'll do the tour in New Orleans, because that's where he's from. But that's kind of a sh*tty thing to do to whoever they cast as Bruce.
JB: Thank you for the feedback... It's okay... I've definitely been called out for a lot worst thing here at BWW LOL.
Will try to improve... :)
Just wanted to point out that I had the great honor of having MC record a song I wrote, which will be on my upcoming album, to be released in August. He was incredibly nice and he said the song had a great message, and I was thrilled he sang it for me!
You can listen on Soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/brandonsturiale/change-brandon-sturiale-featuring-michael-cerveris) or YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDW9cdEXRKQ).
Hope you enjoy it!

I like to put RENT in all caps on iTunes simply because that's how it appears on the album's cover. "next to normal" is also written in lowercase.
I am one who puts shows in caps, mainly because I had come to think it was the proper etiquette for a message board dec. And it is easier than italicising or quotes.

That's a lovely idea...if only it could be so!

No, he isn't. He had never even visited New Orleans before the 90s.
He's from West Virginia. He did buy a house in New Orleans after Katrina, and is first and foremost a musician. He came into acting sideways. I am sure he'll keep acting as long as he can (or wants to), but his first love is music. Eventually, he will probably retire there.
