For anyone interested, because the show will continue to tour after the short summer layoff, The deal is nearly (if not altogether) complete that Lou Diamond Philips will be stepping into the role of Arthur for the remainder of the tour.
Just thought I'd share that tidbit of news-not rumor....
Ugh, and of course my city is the 2nd stop AFTER that layoff. Michael York was the only reason I was going to see the show in the first place. Well...maybe I'll see it for Rachel York.

This is very upsetting to me. Camelot is playing as part of Broadway Across America-Baltimore next season, and was sold to subscribers and potential subscribers as starring Michael York. That is one of the reasons I renewed my subscription. If this is indeed true,I am very mad about it. They sold this show under false pretenses, and I will be comlaining to the management here in Baltimore.

From most reports, it's sounded like Michael York was the best reason NOT to see Camelot, so on surface this sounds to me like good news.
But...Lou Diamond Phillips?

You can complain to the management all you want but it proabably won't do you any good. Most brochures carry the disclaimer that the schedule and casting are subject to change.

I liked Lou in "The King and I". I'm sure he will make a good Arthur.

Word of mouth on Michael York's performance was not good. Those of you with tickets are probably better off. I loved Lou Diamond Phillips in THE KING AND I. He has wonderful stage presence and I'm sure he'll be a very interesting Arthur.
Just saw the show yesterday. You should all be happy you won't be able to see Michael York. I hated his performance.

I presume LDP is going straight from "A Few Good Men" with Casa Manana into this...which suprises me none, because "Camelot" hits Dallas not long before "A Few Good Men" opens/closes....

This is true. Feelingelectric....It won't do you any good to complain to Baltimore management. They had no clue. Theatres around the country are all in the same position having announced this as well. Your best bet is to complain right to Michael York himself as Im sure it was his decision, NOT the theatre in Baltimore.

I did "The Little Prince And The Aviator" with Michael York. A nice guy, but NO musical ability...Couldn't sing in key, and was constatly dropping beats, making incorrect entrances...etc. The thing about Richard Burton (and Rex Harrison) was that although they didn't have operatic voices, they had great musical instincts. Not so with Mr. York.
Any word on how long Rachel York will be sticking around? I would assume she'll eventually want to get back to New York.
"Well...maybe I'll see it for Rachel York"
Damn good enough reason to see it. I'm still hoping to go see it in Philly for that reason.
I can see LDP in THE KING and I but I can't begin to imagine him as Arthur. Rachel York is enough reason to see just about anything but the play needs three strong main characters.
Rschel York was why i wanted to see this tour as well. i hope she stays
James Barbour is another good another reason to go.
Those of you who were going to see it in Baltimore should just see it this July at Wolf Trap. Its not far.
I am seeing it- though mainly for Rachel York.

In December LDP pleaded no contest to a domestic battery charge.
This will give a whole new meaning to "How to Handle a Woman"...
Is Lou Diamond Phillips such a long name that you guys just write LDP? I read LDP and I had no idea who you guys are talking about.
Anyways, will York make it to Ft Lauderdale?

muscle,
According to Rachel's website, she is with the tour at least through the end of July. So, yes, she will make it to Ft. Lauderdale.

EDIT: Ha ha. I just realized you meant MICHAEL YORK. See who I think the star of the show really is.

Not many will argue with you LC
So what's the status on you making it up to see it in Philly?

Hey, there, WRQ!
I probably won't make it to Philly for a return visit to Camelot. I WILL, however, be there in October for her appearance with the Philly Pops in the Broadway Showstoppers concert. Yay!

Saw the tour here in Detroit. Talked with Rachel and James after... per James he is all done after the stop in Pittsburgh (July 07) and plans to 'get married and produce' asked if he would be returning to the stage and he said no.
Rachel said that she is currently only contracted thru Pittsburgh as well, but her plans are still up in the air for after that.

That sucks. I wanted to see James and Rachel, now I doubt I'll sit through this. The entire show sorta bores me to tears.
TM1162,
Are you sure James will leave the tour at July07 in Pittsburg? The schedule on their site says that the Pittsburg stopping happens between July17-22.
I pray to God that this is not true. I bought ticket in Wolftrap for July14th just for him. Orchestra, dead center. I will be very disappointed if he leave early.
