Ok, Im looking at pics of Millie in LaJolla and WOAH did they change the show a hell of a lot.
1) The cast is totally different except for Sutton Marc Kudish and Francis Jue
2) Meersy isnt chinese
3) There are so many songs that werent in the Broadway version
4) I dont get it. Why are there pics of Sutton as Millie and then some of Erin Dilly as Millie? { http://millie.cjb.net/ }
Did anyone see the La Jolla production? How was it?

La Jolla was the out of town tryout for Millie. As such, they would still have been working on what worked and what does not. That would explain any changes from what you saw after it opened in NY. In previews, it also would have undergone changes.
As for pictures of both Erin Dilly and Sutton- Erin was Millie before Sutton but Sutton took over (and understudied, if I am not mistaken) during the La Jolla run.
Erin was replaced shortly before previews. Sutton was the understudy and was promoted to lead. Gavin Creel was brought in for Broadway since Sutton is rather tall and they didn't want her to be taller than her leading man (or so I've heard on that one).
Also the costumes were completely redone.
There were lots of changes to that show indeed, now that it's brought up.
I do b'lieve that Hunter was also briefly cast as Jimmie- till the Bro/Sis as BF & GF icked everyone out.
the original Jimmy is now the Laurie understudy in Little Women! so they are now back together again, Jim and Sutton

And Millie starred Sutton Foster, who is now in Little Women, which was also movie with Kirsten Dunst who was in "Mona Lisa Smile" with Julia Roberts, who starred in "Closer" with Jude Law, who was in "I Heart Huckabees" with Noami Watts, who was in "21 grams" with Sean Penn, who starred in "Mystic River" with...Kevin Bacon.
Millie was fantastic in La Jolla. It was though, almost a completely different show from what ended up on Broadway. THERE'LL BE SOME CHANGES MADE, STUMBLING, ONE MANHATTAN STRAIGHT UP, YOU CAN COUNT ON ME, THEN WHAT, BABY?, SAY THAT and JAZZ BABY were all highlights for me. especially JAZZ BABY as it was from the film. but ultimately the replacement songs worked better I guess. ONLY IN NEW YORK ended up being my favorite song from the show so yeah most of the new songs were just better. I still miss those La Jolla songs though. I wonder if they ever made a demo...
LOL andyf! ...but get back in your cage. You're a societal detriment!
