re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

They sent out this $10 offer for my mother jewish wicked lesbian wedding for the Facebook people. If you get a Subscription you only pay $25 or $35 dollars save over 30%. Sounds like if you Subscribe you get a raw deal. How can they explain this offer?

The offer for $10 MMLJWW tickets through Facebook is only for one specific performance, March 10.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

These comments about the constant cancellations at Mirvish are uncalled for.

In a different thread Den listed all the shows announced by Mirvish over the past 8 season.

https://toronto.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?thread=1012386&dt=3&boardid=19

3 were postponed to s subsequent seasons but were ultimately presented.

3 shows were canceled outright. 93&% of the 44 shows announced were presented. In this business that's a pretty impressive average.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

That's probably true, but I've only subscribed for two years and during that time three shows were cancelled, or postponed. Sorry but I'm taking postponements as cancellations because they didn't happen in the season I paid for at the time.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

The God of Carnage tour has been scrapped so it looks like it won't be coming here even as an off-subscription show unless Mirvish decides to do their own production.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

The Toronto run of God of Carnage had nothing to do with the tour... from what I recall.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Just received a press release from Mirvish...the long rumoured return of WICKED is now official...

Toronto – After breaking box office records and selling out in record time during its 2005 and 2006 engagements, WICKED, the smash-hit musical, will return to Toronto, to the Canon Theatre, October 20 through November 28. Group tickets for the return engagement are currently on sale. Single tickets go on sale Monday June 7.

“I’m very happy,” says David Mirvish, “to at last be able – after so many months of rumour – to now make the official announcement that WICKED will be returning for its third engagement at the Canon Theatre on October 20. There are few shows now, or ever, on the road that have had the substance and appeal to be able to return to play to Toronto’s sophisticated audiences three times! WICKED is one in a million! It is one of the most popular musicals ever to play our city… and this is one of the most-requested return engagements we have ever experienced.”

Casting for the forthcoming national tour stop will be announced at a later date.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

They leave this show out of the Subscription package. WTF Can someone explain this to me? Glad i cancelled my Subscription and did not renew. If the price is right i will be there.
#161

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

This will be the third time it has been to Toronto and it was part of the subscription one of the previous times. That's probably why it wasn't part of the subscription this time.

There is pricing mentioned at the end of the press release:

Prices: $35 to $129

I suppose it could still change. I hope it does because those are some expensive tickets!

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

It was already here once as a subscription show, and the 2nd time it was an add-on (I think) - so they probably feel most of the subscribers have seen it.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Assuming the current touring casts remain the same come October, it would have been nice to have the 2nd touring company instead of the 1st touring company since Toronto-native Natalie Daradich is Elphaba. Oh well... Chandra Lee Schwartz is just as good.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

I agree, it would have been nice to have Natalie come home... She's apparently fabulous in the role. But I doubt the cast will stay the same, I heard at least the leads in the 1NT are changing up, Donna Vivino is only scheduled through the first week of Houston and I haven't read anything about Chandra extending, so we may get some fairly new witches.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

caught the tour of mamma mia last night. surprisingly a lot of empty seats at the back/sides. the performances started weak but picked up in the second act. sets were quite scaled back. still sugary fun and the crowd did seem to be having a good time.

I received an email today, advising of presale, for subrscribers for additional tickets to Billy Elliot. Yowsa, theyre going fast...for me to add 1 additional ticket, to my 2 person subscription in the orchestra, I had to through about 15 dates. Tickets seem to be going fast. Ouzounian has an article on the four boys who will play Billy Elliot in Toronto. Two are Canadian, and three trained at the National Ballet school.
