re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Little Mermaid is suppose to tour, as is 9 to 5, Shrek, and Billy Elliot

Although Billy is staying in Chicago as long as people are willing to see it

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

David Mirvish said that Joseph will now come in the 2010/2011 season. Also the new Guys and Dolls is supposed to tour even though it tanked on broadway. Although Dancap has connections with McAnuff because of Jersey Boys. Love Never Dies could start after Priscilla leaves POW or it could use the Canon but it is unlikely to come before broadway.

I just want to say after looking at some of the regional boards, that our Toronto board is really the only one that has "HARDCORE" fans, who really care about their city and their shows.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

I'm actually going to enjoy seeing Joseph again!
I'd like to see Xanadu make a stop in TO, as well as Billy!!

Not true, Fashion. Chicago, and San Francisco's boards can also be quite active. They, like the TO Board go through lulls, though.

Tourboi, let me be honest...I had a few drops of "liquid courage" in me when I wrote that.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

let's hope priscilla makes it.
billy elliot is on my wishlist.
9-5?? isn't there a tour starting there.

it will be interesting to see what dancap picks up as well.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Bonfire, whatever Dancap doesn't bring next summer to Four Seasons, will probably be picked up by Mirvish

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Fashion... liquid courage keeps me going! I understand. re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

And it does seem interesting, this new Dancap summer development. Maybe they're going to start doing only a summer-series (a la Dallas Summer Musicals), and let Mirvish (who is the dominant force in town) have the rest of the year.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Maybe Mirvish will steal these shows and have his own Summer Series. Is this possible?

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Well, Dancap is still active. They're focusing on sit-down productions while Mirvish is focusing on touring shows. I mean Mirvish cancelled two sit-down prouductions, Priscilla and Joseph. Even though they have Boys in the Photograph it is really just a transfer from Winnipeg. Same with Stuff Happens which is a transfer from Studio 180. Cloud 9 I think is the only totally Mirvish produced show, and I think that it is only supposed to run for 1 month and a bit. Dancap is just using a totally different strategy. It is hard to try to steel subscribers from Mirvish especially when Mirvish usually brings pretty good shows, especially in this economy.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

I wonder if other people like me are reconsidering their subscription with Mirvish for next year. After this year with all the substitutions and the 'extra' shows I'm not sure I'll bother next year and just buy better tickets for the couple of shows I am interested in. We're only 2 shows into this season, but really there's nothing I'm even looking forward to.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

I must agree with cherios. This season has turned into a big disappointment. I wish I didn't renew my subscription this season.

As for Love Never Dies (aka Phantom 2), it doesn't appear that it will be bowing in Toronto anymore. According to the updated website, the new stage musical will be have its world premiere in London in March 2010 followed by New York in November and in Australia in 2011.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

^^Which is really too bad, considering that Canadian Ramin Karimloo is playing the Phantom.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

It doesn't appear that Phantom 2 will open in Toronto anytime soon according to that press announcement. re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Mirvish has something up their sleeve...

The announcement could be an official release regarding the 12 week Priscilla run for Fall 2010. But I still am thinking it may be a Billy Elliot sitdown or finally that the Wicked rumours are coming true.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

I think i know the show coming in to the RAT.. there has been buzz about auditions the last week going around town among actors.

Im not going to say what it is but it is sorta in the style of WWRY.. I'll let u try and figure it out!

And from what i have heard wicked will be a tour again, the producers dont want a canadian production at this time.. and it isnt gonna happen when u think it will (june)..

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Dancap is suppose tell us his Summer Season soon. Maybe Mirvish want to anounce his 2010/2011 Season. He always anounces his Subcription season before anyone else. Maybe thats what he will do on Oct. 15.
#21

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

October 15th is the one year anniversary of The Sound of Music opening. I've also heard rumours of a tour BUT don't believe them.
#22

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

i'd rather pick and choose between what mirvish and dancap have to offer then do a subscription. there are enough seat deals out there anyway.

well i'll check back on the 15th for the big announcement.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Billy Elliot would be awesome in Toronto!

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

I did not renew my Subscription this year, I would asume they are trying to scare me away for another year. Going to see 3 Canstage shows and the Toxic Avenger. Next year might be checking out the other Theatres again. Rock of Ages, this is a joke.

re: Mirvish 2010 / 2011

Ouzounian loved Rock of Ages. Said it's the happiest he's left a theatre since the first time he saw Mamma Mia...
