Mirvish 2011 / 2012

One of the many reasons the commercial theatre industry in Toronto needs to change.

The only acouncemnt I can't wait to hear is that Book of Mormon is heading our way...I wonder who will land it, if at all...Ive seen it twice, and will be seeing it again in February...I think it would be a great experience for the city...and the money Im sure it would bring in!

When will Mirvish announce their full 2012 line up of Shows? After January 8th, they have only 3 shows scheduled that I can see on their site, The Blue Dragon, War Horse and Bring it on. What have you heard, if anything?

Mirvish 2011 / 2012

Probably not until February, as usual.
Rumoured: Backbeat, Wizard of Oz and Sister Act.

Mirvish 2011 / 2012

TorontoSceneTO is confusing calendar years with theatrical seasons. "Blue Dragon", "War Horse" and "Bring it On" are all shows in the current Mirvish season of 2011/2012. Their season of 2012/2013 will probably be announced, as Tag points out, sometime in February; that's been their preferred month for the announcement of their next year's season for many years.

Robbie thank you for your response I was asking about the calendar year 2012, was not asking about the theatrical season. But I will agree I should have been more specific and said calendar year. I know now from you and Tag that I should be more patient and wait till February to find out what else will be staged in 2012. Patience is not one of my virtues...I also asked the question what have you heard? What do think they will bring to Toronto in the calendar year 2012 besides what is already scheduled. I agree with Tag on Sister Act and Wizard of Oz, Backbeat I am not so sure but could be persuaded...

Mirvish 2011 / 2012

Tag is on the mark, so far. Mirvish last month announced "Backbeat" for the summer of 2012; "Sister Act" announced last May that it would kick off its tour at the Canon Theatre (excuse me, the Ed Mirvish Theatre) in the fall of 2012; Andrew Lloyd Webber told Playbill last summer that he was planning a new "Wizard of Oz" production for Canada in 2012.

Retooled Flashdance pre-Broadway tryout is also rumoured for next Fall.

I am also thinking Book of Mormon. What do you think? Heard anything on BofM coming to Toronto?
#110

Mirvish 2011 / 2012

Given the touring schedule so far announced by "Mormon" it's very unlikely that we could see it in Toronto before 2013.

Mirvish 2011 / 2012

I agree with Robbie. I don't see it coming here before it opens in Denver in August. I am thinking (and to use Robbie's correction of me) theatrical calendar will be announced in 2012 play in Toronto after the 12 week run in LA.

WHY? Colossal flop in the UK. No amount of restating can fix this one. Financially speaking it seems such a bad gamble.

Anybody seen The Blue Dragon got a ticket for wednesday hope its a good one.

Mirvish 2011 / 2012

It is! I'd say "The Blue Dragon" is one of an unprecedented four must-sees on stage in Toronto all at once, the others being "Caroline, or Change" at Berkeley St. Downstairs; Ronnie Burkett's "Penny Plain" at Factory; and "Kim's Convenience" at Soulpepper - except that the latter is now sold out (but coming back for a reprise in May!). If you'd written yesterday, I would have added "The Penelopiad" at Buddies to that list, but today's was its final performance.
