I think I need to see the show again during that two week span. I guess OTT will be open at least through September 6.

Quite the big coup for On The Town considering Copeland's media prominence over the past few days.

I am on cloud nine with this news. I really just hope that the show promotes the hell out of this news. For all the money they are putting into this show, they really need to do more promotion. I'm seriously not even sure they've ever promoted the fact they're booking into December, and they're really missing out.

Posted: 7/6/15 at 12:34amI've wanted to see this show again for months, and this news finally pushed me to make a purchase. I hope many more people do the same. A truly enjoyable production, and now with a true ballet superstar.

I know I should just ignore this^ and move on, but, damn. Don't give Pinto competition, Jose.
This is going to be great. Wish I could make it back to NY to see Misty Copeland's Miss Turnstiles dance.

"I have no idea who she is. "
Is it bad I'm wondering whether or not this was facetious?
If you're serious - you will know who she is very soon. Her career at ABT is finally on the rise.

megan fairchild and tiler peck (who was on for a brief time) are probably both considered to be on the level of "ballet superstar" but they dance for NYCB which is more about the company and doesn't promote individual dancers the way ABT does. Most ballet supporters would actually consider fairchild and peck more accomplished than copeland. For what it's worth, they've both been principals for much much longer than the just promoted copeland despite being younger.

Honestly,I don't know. Ask me anything Broadway: composer, musicals, plays, revivals, actors, I will know. I don't know anything about anything other than Broadway. It's the only thing I care for. I will look into it. Everyone seems to know her except me.

Wonderful for her, wonderful for On the Town. Learn her story if you're unfamiliar. She's been through a lot to get where she is, but she's proof that dedication (and exceptional natural skill) can pay off.
Her most recent accolade came this past week as she was promoted to principal with ABT. That promotion made her the first African-American principal in company history.
i wish I could see her during her brief stint. Best to her!

This move does nothing for them now when they need it. Add to that it is only for 2 weeks in late August.
How this helps a struggling show in the long term remains a mystery to me. If she were to be in it starting in a few weeks for 2 or 3 months it would be a big boost.
I wish one and all well.

Cynics say, "stunt casting." If a great dancer at the top of her game -- and in very the week she made ballet history -- lends her artistry to a show built almost entirely on dance, no matter the brevity of her run, the stunt is genius.

Starcatchers, I'm kind of chuckling at your response. I'm not sure why anyone would be astounded that some readers here know little or nothing about ballet outside of Broadway. But stop and think. If someone doesn't know who Misty Copeland is, I'm willing to bet they won't have a clue what ABT stands for, so I'm not sure how much good your response did! LOL

Who is calling this stunt casting?
