Wintertime.
It wasn't really WOW in a good way. It was more like, "Wow. What the hell was that?"

A Chorus Line. It was the first, and is still the best ensemble cast show. Plus, the character's stories were all inspired by real experiences of real dancers who came to the workshops.
Phantom is also more unique than most would think.

Mister Matt, I'd have to agree that De La Guarda is the most unique show I've seen. Drumming, rain, confetti, company members zooming over your head, it was quite the experience.
I'd also have to say that the first time I saw RENT I thought it was very unique, in that the characters just came onstage and started the show, with no flashy Overture to begin things, just Mark's monologue :)

I think I'm going to say Miracle Brothers. Not in every aspect, but I thought the idea of the plot was very unique, and a lot of aspects of the physical production and choreography felt different to me, and left me feeling very refreshed. It may not be the most unique EVER, but definitely in recent memory.
