OK, it's a corny and popular choice, but, from "The Pajama Game," I'd have to say Harry Connick's rendition of "Hey There" was a knuckle-biter for me. Closely followed by his shirtless appearance at the end, met with a collective "Day-mmm!" from the audience.
Also, every moment of Burke Moses onstage in "The Fantasticks." I guess I have a daddy complex or something...
"Shall We Dance?" is one of the most erotic moments in a Broadway musical for me. It is more about what goes unsaid, so perfect.
Also, NINE has a dozen of them, but I agree with WW11 that "A Call from the Vatican" is at the top.
Donna McKechnie's "Tick Tock" dance from Company... which is currently available online.
many moments in LoveMusik.
I don't think anyone else posted an obvious one... Avenue Q?? That puppet sex scene is pretty graphic! lol
Well my favorite moment handsdwon is Word of your Body (Reprise), its very sensual and incredibly sweet. and What could be better then two pretty boys kissing?

i.heart.link, when I saw SA, an entire school group seated behind me shrieked in horror at that moment! Must've been from Bible Belt HS or something...
To those who have mentioned Phantom, don't forget "Music of the Night". I personally don't get all hot and bothered over it, but Gillian Lynne did envision it as something of a musical erection...

uhh...contact from rent? pretty erotic i'd say.
thenewmoon, thats priceless! How did they react to the rest of the show?? I mean what's more raunchy? Two guys kissing or two teenagers having uprotected, premarital sex with everyone watching??

It was just the moment of the guy-on-guy kiss that they seemed to be traumatized by. I thought they were just kidding until I turned around!
And, can't believe anyone hasn't said this yet: Passion! The whole show, really, is very sensual.
I know, I expected Passion to be in the first post! I can't believe The King and I of all things was mentioned first. Have you SEEN Trio?

Oh I forgot about Contact from Rent. Yeah, that's definitely a good one, lol.
I havent seen Passion, only heard it, unfortunately.
Contact from RENT was the first thing that popped into my mind. Maybe not staged wise, but the lyrics, ummm, no need to say more.
Not erotic but more "raunchy" but some people find that erotic - "Lovely ladies" Les Mis.
"Elaborate Lives" from Aida is the first thing I thought of.
And actually, I'm still thinking about it....
I'm sure you are MYB!
Anyone that saw The Chess benefit concert - One Night in Bangkok - all I have to say is **drool**!
'The King And I' may be understated and subtle, but it causes more of a stirring in my pants than naked boys flailing around on a stage. I'm going with the more true "arouses intense feelings of desire" definition of "erotic" than the "look, they're having sex, therefore it must be sexy!" definition that... well... doesn't really count as erotic.
I think a lot of you are missing the point of what an erotic scene truly is. Erotic is something that evokes a sexual feeling, or where there is an underlying feeling of sexual tension, but not something that blatantly shouts "WE'RE HAVING SEX!". A lot of you have stated that Contact from Rent is erotic, however that really is just a song about intercourse, where everything is really out in the open--obviously they are having sex. There is no secret. If I had to pick a scene from Rent, I'd say that Light My Candle is more of an erotic song/scene. Another example is Hello Little Girl from Into the Woods.
Erotic is about subtleties, not about the obvious.
I agree-the scene from The King and I! That scene has so much chemistry. And the scene from South Pacific during Some Enchanted Evening. The way that song builds and the way they kiss at the end. I don't need to watch the sex happening--those kind of moments that leave something to the imagination-that's erotic!
Definitely. Hello Little Girl has to be in my top 5 most erotic moments ever.
I'm more about the sound of the voice than what is actually going on on the stage.
Ex: Norbie's voice in most of his songs in The Last 5 Years, esp. "The Next Ten Minutes". hmmmmm!
I would call it more sensual:
- "Happiness" from Passion
- "Sun and Moon" from Miss Saigon (dependent on performer and production)
Provocative and Erotic?
- Spring Awakening
- Cabaret
- Avenue Q
Lost and Found from City of Angels
End of Act 1 from The Light in the Piazza

"Say it Somehow" - LITP
and "It's a Dangerous Game" - J&H
are both high on my list.
"Happiness" and "Trio" from Passion, absolutely. "Say It Somehow" from The Light in the Piazza is beautiful.
And for recent shows...In "Company", Raul caressing that tuba right through the makeout scene with Elizabeth Stanley is AMAZING.
The first scene of LoveMusik is pretty serious too...

well, one for certain is of course "Something Bad" from Wicked. That has sexuality written all over it
