I've always been wondering one thing about these movie musicals...and it's: What movie cast members have seen the musical incarnations of their movies?
We all know what Oprah thinks of THE COLOR PURPLE.
But I'd love to know if Steve Martin or Michael Caine have seen DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS and what their opinions of it was.
What did Ricki Lake say about HAIRSPRAY if she saw it?
I believe I heard Adam Sandler was at the Seattle premier of THE WEDDING SINGER but I don't know if anyone asked his opinion of it. Has Drew Barrymore been spotted around the Al Hirschfeld?

Adam Sandler reportedly loved Wedding Singer, much to the delight of Stephen Lynch.
Daphne Ruben Vega and Patti LuPone did not see Rent and Evita, respectively.

ricki lake was at opening night of hairspray and loved it

The Lion King was(to my knowledge, they could have done something earlier) the birth of the Lane-Broderick partnership. Matthew was Adult Simba and Nathan was Timon

Posted: 6/18/06 at 11:07pmI had no idea about Lion King! Interesting.

The 5 living Pythons(Cleese, Idle, Palin, Jones, and Gilliam)were at the opening of SpamAlot.
What I would like to know and if anyone knows please posted it, I wonder if Gene Wilder ever got around to seeing the musical version of The Producers. I'd really like to know what he thought of it.

I know Nathan Lane didn't care for TLK - he felt that Max Casella was doing an imitation of him.
Of course Adam Sandler wants Wedding Singer to be a hit - he was one of the producers of the movie and gets a share of the profits (if any) for the show.

Posted: 10/22/06 at 11:18pmdidn't Oprah help make the color purple the musical? Like help produce it or give them money or something?

Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane did the voiceovers for the movie in separate studios at separate times. They never met until the premiere. Technically they both worked on the same project, but I wouldn't call it a partnership if they never actually interacted.

Ricki Lake LOVED "Hairspray" (even featured Marissa and the cast performing "Good Morning, Baltimore" on her show).
Chita Rivera could not say enough great things about Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger in the film-version of CHICAGO.
