Mrs. Murray's Menagerie by The Mad Ones at Ars Nova

The Mad Ones knock it out of the park again with this alternately subtle and goofy piece. Funny, tense, smart, detailed, humanistic, and acted and directed with laser-sharp precision. Go see it!

Grabbed a ticket on tdf and seeing it the week after next. Really looking forward to this after seeing Miles For Mary.

How does the general seating work? Do they seat you where they want? Would you say the view is good all over the theater? I suspect i will arrive at the theater about half hour before curtain.

Can't wait!

Not a bad seat in the house, but because the actors are sitting around a round table, you won't be able to see some actors as well as others

Just wondering if people were there really early to get good seats since it is mostly general admission.

Also looking forward to seeing January LaVoy. I knew her when she was at NTC.

I saw Rags Parkland at Ars Nova last year. We paid for premium seats, which meant they reserved two seats together for us in a prime location. (Last row center, which allowed us to see everything). I *think* if you have general admission, it's first come first serve. But really, there's not a bad seat in the house.

Cool, thank! I have seen 2 shows there. One upstairs and one down. No problem with the views. Didn't see Sweeney there though.

I should get there about 40 minutes before curtain. I think I saw something about a pre-show happy hour ago that works! Going after work.

(there are two threads on this - wasn't sure which one to use so I picked the one with more posts, even those it was the later thread)

Anyway, I LOVED this. It's highly enjoyable - very well-written and well-acted. My only criticism really is that, after seeing Miles For Mary, it kind of feels like more of the same, just with a different premise. They're not exactly forging new ground dramatically. But when the work is so good, that's fine by me! And that criticism didn't even occur to me until after the show, because I was so engrossed during!

Saw it this evening.

I agree with JBroadway. Enjoyed MILES FOR MARY a bit more. Maybe because we got to know the characters a bit more. But this was still good and fun to watch. Loved January. It was so nice seeing her on a NY stage.

Loved the set. Really not a bad seat in the house although I would suggest sitting in the seats at the far side facing the upstairs or miss to right in the seats just inside the doors.

Since I was last there for the last show, they have redone the bathrooms (I think there are 2) and they are mixed use. Appears they have also redone the stairway up to them. Much cleaner and brighter. The lobby now seems darker and has kind of a cold feel.

Saw this show on Saturday, and it honestly blew me away. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a show with such unbelievable precision from the actors and director. Every micro gesture and tiny flinching reaction registered perfectly on each actor. I’m perplexed that just watching a focus group could enthrall me for 90 minutes, but it absolutely did. Phenomenal job all around.

I saw this a couple weeks ago and also really enjoyed it. It's a very low-key character study, but so finely etched and lived-in and remarkably entertaining. Considering there really is not much in the way of a storyline- it really is a real-time depiction of a focus group- it moves very briskly, and features very fine performances all around.
