I'll be there in Row E of the Mezz, and I can't wait! Haven't seen a show in a while and it's gonna be nice to see one again.
Anyone else gonna be there or plan on seeing it this weekend?

I'll be there tonight too. Did anyone see the revival in the 70s with Lynn Redgrave.

Posted: 9/3/10 at 6:32pmI'll be there tonight as well. Excited to see Cherry Jones on stage again!

Posted: 9/3/10 at 9:15pmCherry and Sally are both good and compared to the past two seasons of Roundabout productions this is coming off well, if a little dull. I don't like the show curtain, but I love Catherine Zuber's costumes for Cherry.

I saw something tonight I haven't seen in quite a long time: a standing ovation for the first preview of a Roundabout straight play.
I really enjoyed this show! Cherry Jones and Sally Hawkins give some really strong performances. The sets looked great. As with the poster above, I have no idea the meaning behind the image on the show curtain, but I loved the show!

I really loved the show. Cherry was a doll at the stagedoor, and everyone else just didn't stop. I personally thought this was a great show from Roundabout and the sets were really amazing. I also like the music they played during the Act changes.
I really had a great time, and possibly might go back.

Posted: 9/3/10 at 11:52pmWow, you guys are getting me psyched, and that's a good thing, since I'm holding one of those $10 tickets for tomorrow night! Can you tell me what the running time was? Thanks...
#10Mrs. Warren's Profession Starts Previews Tonight
Posted: 9/3/10 at 11:57pmI got out at about 10:25. There are two 1 hour acts with a 15 minute intermission in between.

Posted: 9/4/10 at 7:20amI wasn't a huge fan of the play itself. And I also found the show curtain a bit odd. But the final scene between Cherry Jones and Sally Hawkins is worth the ticket price on its own.

Posted: 9/4/10 at 8:05amPersonally I rate it as one of Shaw's most intriguing and interesting plays. The recent West End production with Felicity Kendall was wonderful.

What was the show curtain?
#14Mrs. Warren's Profession Starts Previews Tonight
Posted: 9/4/10 at 9:04amThe show curtain was various colored rectangles contained within a single larger rectangle. There was some variation in shading as well on a couple of them. They would light up different sections during the scene breaks. No clue what it meant though. Anyone have any ideas?

Wow! This might be the first time I have read a thread on the first preview of a Roundabout show that wasn't a bloodletting!
I am very much looking forward to seeing the show tomorrow afternoon :)

Frank Gardiner: Cary Donaldson
Great performances by all. I agree about the curtain, add, was trying to figure out what it meant, maybe it represents a character or scene change? Would be interested to know if there is a story behind it at all. Does not appear to go with the story or even time frame.
The black and white playbill was disappointing, wonder if they will change it to color for the opening.
#19Mrs. Warren's Profession Starts Previews Tonight
Posted: 9/4/10 at 9:55pmRoundabout shows rarely, if ever, have color playbills.
#20Mrs. Warren's Profession Starts Previews Tonight
Posted: 9/4/10 at 10:58pm^Not even rarely. Actually never. They never do color playbills.
#21Mrs. Warren's Profession Starts Previews Tonight
Posted: 9/4/10 at 11:10pm^ I swore Bye Bye Birdie had color playbills for a short period of time.
#22Mrs. Warren's Profession Starts Previews Tonight
Posted: 9/4/10 at 11:19pmNope. I was at first preview. Black and white.

Birdie did have Color playbills in the middle of the run.
I saw the show today and I didn't have the slightest idea what was going on. The accents made it very hard to understand and the story itself was also confusing to me. Maybe I'm a little young for it. I understood more of The Merchant of Venice (Which I ended up falling asleep during because I was up for 34 hours straight prior) than I did today.

Interesting that my first preview playbill would be in black and white and that they would switch to color later...
And DCR, I agree about the play tonight. I was there as well, and I agree with you. Sally Hawkins swallowed all of her words, and Cherry's attempt at a British accent was pathetic. It was definitely the least offensive of Roundabout's fall shows from the past few years, though.
