My guesses are:
DRS: Great Big Stuff or Dirty rotten Number
Spamalot: Not sure but, always look on the bright side of life or You wont succeed on broadway...
To be quite honest I dont really know about the rest

Posted: 5/4/05 at 10:19pmAw, damn. I just realized Little Women probably won't be performing. That's a shame.

Posted: 5/4/05 at 10:24pmIt doesn't look like LW will get a best musical nom. Only the nominated best musicals get to perform a number from the show

Spamalot could do a number of different numbers. The obvious choice would be either "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life," or "Knights of the Round Table." And while either of those numbers would definetly sell tickets, it might further behoove them to do one of the newer songs - maybe "The Song That Goes Like This" or "Find Your Grail." Also, something that features Sara Ramirez promenatly, as the aforementioned do.
Here's the best thing they could do - announce that they are going to do, say, "I'm Not Dead Yet." Then at the Tony Awards, when they start to sing it, on comes the Colonel from Flying Circus (played by Eric Idle, or maybe John Cleese) and breaks it up, and a surprise appearence of Christopher Sieber and Sara Ramirez, and they then procced to perform "The Song That Goes Like This." Anyone with me?

Posted: 5/4/05 at 10:57pmHow likely is it that "Spamalot" would choose a number (i.e. "The Song That Goes Like This") that doesn't feature any of the three leading men?

I think that Spamalot will announce one thing and do something completely different to be funny.
I think Spam will perform a bit from a couple of songs. Like part of Find your Grail and go into Alway Look for Knights of the Round Table, which features Sara and Tim fistly then the rest of the cast.

Posted: 5/4/05 at 11:02pm"La Cage Aux Folles" could maybe do "The Best of Times", or even recreate the original productions Tony performance. Of course, Gary Beach would do it in full drag of course: unlike Mr. Hearn. Anyone know why Hearn didn't do it in drag?

The likelihood is pretty good of that happening if Rameirez and Sieber get nominated and one or even none of the "big three" do, also only Hyde Pierce really has a song that is passable of the three of them. Curry crooning "I am Alone" would be horrible, and Azaria doesn't sing, as he says "I'm here for my voices" jam man's idea seems like the best one to me.
I'd like to see DRS do a medley of several songs, but would love to see "Great Big Stuff" or a slightly modified "Dirty Rotten Number" to get all three leads in and not give up plot points.
"Fable" is the "Rose's Turn" of TLITP I'd love to see Clark do that.
I'll second "Life is Pandemonium" from Bee.
Maybe "If They Could See Me Now" from Charity.
LaCage, I have no idea.
If we get anything from PO it will probably be a clip of severak snippets from the production, though I would love to see "Chrysanthamum Tea" (which is too long and would never happen
)

Posted: 5/4/05 at 11:20pmI'd love to see the Girls of LA CAGE get their just rewards and be able to do The Title Number (a condensed version of course) - that would be amazing! We Are What We Are, I am What I am, or The Best Times!

The four spots are almost certainly DRS, Spamalot, The Light in The Piazza, and Spelling Bee.
All have much more buzz acclaim and general notice than Little Women.
or Chitty, ASU, Brooklyn, Dracula, GV, or The Frogs

Because there are only four slots for Best New Musical and I think most people are betting on:
- Spamalot
- Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
- Spelling Bee
- Piazza
As for numbers... funny that I was actually thinking about this on and off today. I think if anyone is going to do a medley, Spamalot will. And I also agree that the exact numbers will probably depend on nominations... if David Hyde Pierce is nominated, I'm willing to bet there will at least be a touch of "You Won't Succeed" in a medley with something like a short version of "Knights of the Round Table" (that tag at the end with "SPAMALOT!" proclaimed by the entire ensemble is just too perfect to ignore).
And DRS... I agree on "Great Big Stuff"!

Posted: 5/4/05 at 11:29pmI think Spelling Bee will do a medley of sorts including the title song, some spelling by the cast/fun celebs and Life is Pandamonium. But due to time restraints it will most likley just be Pandamonium.

I can't see Spamalot doing any of "You Won't Succeed on Broadway," for the same two reasons (probably) that The Producers didn't do "Springtime for Hitler": 1. It's not very P.C., and while they obviously don't care about P.C. or it wouldn't be in the show at all, but that would take away a lot possible tickets; and 2. It gives away one of the show's biggest jokes. However, if they include just a snip of it in any medley, I'm hoping it's (just) the bottle dance from Fiddler with the grails.
Then again, "Springtime ..." didn't feature Nathan Lane OR Matthew Broderick, but still.

Posted: 5/5/05 at 12:28amI would love to see even the Ruprecht song from the DRS show or the recogning. But what I think would be perfect for Spamalot is the final song or the his name is Lancelot plus the Always look on the bright side of life, because it has so much power and the whole audience could join in.

Spamalot-Knights of the roundtable(only way they can feature all the leads unless they do the song at the end)or which i'd perfer "The Song that Goes like this"
and if it got nominated which is slightly possible. All shook Up-C'mon Everybody
