...as the man said:
In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking,
But now, God knows,
Anything Goes.
Good authors too who once knew better words,
Now only use four letter words
Writing prose, Anything Goes.

Posted: 3/28/09 at 10:54amIf I remember correctly, JCS was found to be offensive by some religious groups. I think if religion is involved or is the centerpoint of a show, it is going to offend some person or group. I didn't find "BARE" to be offensive at all.

Posted: 3/28/09 at 1:01pmBARE is somewhat about questioning/doubting religion, but I don't think there's any offensive content. Unless you're offended by teen sex and drug use, which I guess some people are - but that stuff can be found in tons of musicals.

Posted: 3/28/09 at 1:13pmEssentially every single theatrical piece is offensive. The whole point of art is to make you think, so if people find it provocative, it's done it's job.

Posted: 3/29/09 at 9:00amI agree, any musical that has reglion as a main theme is going to be considered offensive, either is it going to be seen a sachrelgious or if it is seen as sympathic or puts relgion in a good light, espeically if the relgion is Christianity it is going to offend some groups. It is just the way things are these days, in all forums of enterainment, not just musicals. Look at how contriversal "Passion of the Christ" and to some extent "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrode were."
