"I'm gay myself and I've been called diragatory things. I KNOW what is offensive."
But you're not transgender. Being gay doesn't give you a free pass. I'm gay too. Don't misuse your privilege. Just stop saying clearly transphobic things.
"When is there going to be a transgender musical with actual transgender actors?"
I'm not sure. I'm not a composer or book-writer or a casting director. I've been asking the same thing for years. Don't try to hide the fact that you're being offensive by asking this. Trans issues are not your scapegoat.
I am convinced that dreamcasting is the best, most effective and worthwhile use of one's time possible. And I'm not trying to be diragatory.
What I think is really funny is that I'm not transphobic... at all. What I said was not meant to be hurtful to the transgender community. It was a simple joke. Are you a transgender or are you being "offended" because you just want to be? If everyone was completely pc the world would be pretty boring.
I will apologize for my mildly offensive joke, but I will not stand for being called "transphobic." I protected my friend from some really awful sh!t so I refuse to be called a bigot. You don't personally know me so cannot judge my character.
Well:
- I never called you "Transphobic" or "Bigot".
- I'm not offeneded just because I want to be.
- I'm confused about my gender myself, so I can't say I'm Transgender, but your comment made me upset.
^I apologize.
I hope that the world greets you with arms open and accepts you for whoever you choose to be.
Please re-read my response. I didn't call you transphobic. But your "joke" was transphobic. Thank you for apologizing. I am not transgender. I'm upset because although your trans friends don't care(?) my trans friends would find that extremely offensive, as do I find it very very offensive and distasteful, ESPECIALLY using Caitlyn, a real person, as the butt of your joke. Maybe if you kept it to Hedwig and Yitzak it would have been less of an issue. And to be frank, your comment was random and you just wanted to stir up controversy. I don't like picking fights at all, and I don't want to make enemies on this board, but I just needed to stand up for what I think is right.
I don't care about anything else, but I would LOVE to see Kerry Ellis or Jackie Burns be cast as Elsa.
I don't think anyone's comment was transphobic, just saying. It was a joke. The world needs to learn how to take one again. Caitlyn Jenner wasn't even the butt of it. It was a stupid mindless comment about Frozen dream casting which, I agree, would be pretty great. No more pointless than any of these other "dream castings"
^Thank you Keys. I didn't mean to upset anyone. I was poking fun at the fact that this is another pointless "dream casting" thread by suggesting a pointless cast.
In all seriousness though, I would like to see an actual transgender actor play Hedwig.
Honestly, I can't imagine Frozen working onstage. I'm interested in seeing how Disney works it out. Maybe MacKenzie Mauzy would make a good Elsa.
"And I'm not trying to be diragatory."
FB--you KNOW you are just being diragatory-it's your nature to be contraceptual-that's why you have so much lovable luminousity[ness]....x

Let's get back to the real deal.
This is the real snow queen. Chloe Lowery. Lead singer of Trans Siberian Orchestra. This is the best recording of this song ever. Live. In a HS. WITH A BAD HS SOUND SYSTEM. SHE is Elsa. For the impatient, she enters after the child she mentored. 1:25 in. Unbelievable.
Everything.

I don't have any specific people in mind but Elsa becomes Queen on her 18th birthday and Anna is even younger...which is the majority of the show. So while I don't expect them to hire teenagers, I would hope people in their 30's or older (Idina = 44) would not be considered. I would like to see a bunch of newer fresh faces.
Unless they are changing the plot somehow..

Would you be saying the same thing if the joke were about FUN HOME?
Hey icecreambenjamin, your comment was transphobic and necessary. A callout is not a judgment of your character, but an attempt to point out a misstep so that you can improve and relegate such offenses to your past. And if someone calls you transphobic, rather than being defensive, no matter how convinced you are that you are a strong ally to transgender people, the best thing to do is to consider why someone is calling you that and to honestly consider whether there is any truth statement, any way you can correct your behavior to be more supportive of transgender people. It's really great that you have helped your friend through instances of bigotry; however, that does not make you a paragon of trans validation. (Also, why did you call your friend "a transgender?" The word is an adjective, not a noun. That phrasing is hardly a large issue, but it's certainly irritating.) You're cis and unfortunately, transphobia is deeply ingrained in our culture and people must be constantly, actively trying to eradicate it and remove that bias. Internalized messages and ideas can still affect your behavior without you even realizing. Please, let trans people dictate what is and is not offensive. You, as a cis person, hardly have the right to decide what is not offensive. Good on you for apologizing, though! I just suggest you take another fraction of a moment to consider if what you're about to say may be offensive next time. ![]()
Sorry about this guys. I was being a d!ck. I'm not someone who always says things that are "politically correct" so I apologize if my joke came off as hateful. I was typing fast so I apologize, as well, for my miss use of the word transgender.
Liza
That is a very odd statement. I didn't say this about Fun Home.

I think it almost might be impossible for Elsa not to be played by Idina at least maybe she'll open the show and do a limited run. I think she is too identified with the part. But I also think she would only play it if this comes to fruition in the next couple of years. Audiences won't care how old she is they would just care about seeing the original Elsa from the film. Otherwise I would love to see Betsey Wolfe as Elsa. I hope they incorporate Life's too Short somehow. I liked that cut song a lot.

Except for Idina, who clearly won't be cast in this, I can actually see the producers going after the original movie cast. And they're actually perfect for the roles, with the perfect mix of Broadway credits and name recognition (not that they need it, this will be huge either way)
Anna - Kristen Bell (Hair, A Little Night Music)
Kristoff - Jonathan Groff (Fame, Spring Awakening*, Hair, Hamilton)
Olaf - Josh Gad (The Book of Mormon*)
Hans - Santino Fontana (Sunday in the Park with George, Billy Eliot, Cinderella)
*Tony nomination
As for Elsa, is the perfect role to cast a semi-unknow and push her to stardom!
It seems like some of y'all have seen this video and developed your casting ideas accordingly. ![]()
Even though it's being buzzed about now, the physical production is still a few years away. It's likely that a few of the people we suggest here will be too old, too "famous," etc., by the time casting begins. Regardless, I think that Disney would be more likely to cast an unknown as Anna than as Elsa.

Morgan James actually seems like a great choice for Elsa :P
